The Heme Malignancy and Bone Marrow Tranplant Unit (Weinberg 5D) is a 15-bed oncology unit. Registered Nurses (RNs) on this unit you will care for patients with hematological malignancies who are receiving bone marrow transplants. Our hematologic malignancy and hematology patients have access to some of the most innovative and advanced therapies in the world. Because Kimmel Cancer Center research scientists and clinicians closely work together, new drugs and treatments developed in the research laboratory are quickly transferred to the clinical setting, offering patients improved therapeutic options and the chance to participate in innovative clinical trials.
The Lead Clinical Nurse (RN) provides guidance and direction to staff and acts in the absence of the Assistant Nurse Manager/Nurse Manager to oversee a clinical team during care delivery and unit operations.

The Johns Hopkins Hospital Ambulatory Oncology Infusion Clinics include a hematologic malignancy clinic containing 26 infusion treatment chairs, which is adjacent to a 12-bed Oncology urgent care staffed by Nurse Practitioners and RNs. A second solid tumor clinic contains 38 infusion treatment chairs. These two Ambulatory Oncology Infusion Clinics offer standard of care chemotherapy and immunotherapy as well as integrated clinical research. Additional services include nursing telephone triage and an Ambulatory Clinical Evaluation (ACE) nursing team. The ACE team is responsible for preparing patients for their upcoming infusion visits to minimize wait times and improve the patient experience. Other innovative services in Ambulatory Oncology include Oncology curbside clinics, phlebotomy and central line vascular access clinics, and a bone marrow/lumbar puncture procedure service that performs conscious sedation. All of these services are located at our East Baltimore Campus as part of our NCI-designated Sydney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Burton 4 is a newly renovated unit! There are 17 private patient rooms with 2 nursing documentation stations, a multidisciplinary room, and a provider workroom. Each room is equipped with a computer, label printer, and call bell system connected to the updated patient bed connecting patient safety features to the system including the call bell. The ratio will be 5 patients per RN. For each shift, there will be a nursing unit secretary, 2 patient care techs, 3 RNs, and a charge RN. The charge nurse will have a 2-patient assignment to maintain the 5 to 1 ratio. The patient population will be general medicine patients. Typically, 75% of the population will have an underlying psychiatric illness.
The RN / Registered Nurse is responsible for independently planning, coordinating, and directing those activities essential to the provision of quality nursing care for assigned patients; coordinating the medical plan provided by support service departments relating to the assigned patients; identifying and implementing nursing interventions and evaluates results; and demonstrating developing leadership qualities.
This dynamic environment serves as a perfect learning experience for beginning RNs, allowing you to develop essential skills that are vital to any patient care setting.

The Solid Tumor Oncology Unit is a 36-bed inpatient unit that provides medical care to adult oncology patients. The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Neonatal Physician Assistant works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team and is responsible for providing comprehensive and age appropriate care to both well and/or ill patients. The NNP or PA educates patients' families and/or intervenes in acute or chronic illness. The NNP or PA practices within their scope as defined by their education, specialty certification and the guidelines of the unit, department and institution. The NNP or PA is granted affiliate staff privileges by the Johns Hopkins Hospital Medical Board; these privileges reviewed during re-credentialing.
Shift: Fulltime
Schedule: Rotating, Days and Nights, Weekends and Holidays
Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough assessments of neonatal patients.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Monitor and manage the ongoing care of patients, adjusting treatment plans as needed.
Educate and support patients and their families in understanding and managing complex medical conditions.
Serve as a resource and mentor to other healthcare team members.
Participate in case conferences and collaborate with specialists to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
Qualifications:
Master's or Doctorate degree in nursing from an accredited NNP program, or Masters in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited PA program
Registered Nurse (RN) license and Nurse Practitioner (NP) certification, or PA
Maryland or Compact RN and CRNP, or MD PA
Current BLS CPR certification
Minimum 3 years of acute care RN NICU experience required; Level III or IV NICU experience preferred. PA: Level III or IV NICU experience or completion of a Neonatal Residency or Fellowship.
