Position Summary:
With supervision of an attending pathologist or Pathology Assistant; accessions specimens, performs gross examination of non-complicated surgical specimens.
With supervision obtains specimens from the operation rooms, performs appropriate examination, and if required performs frozen sectioning.
Packages tissues, slides and blocks for transportation.
Maintains accurate records and follows up on misplaced specimens.
Responsible for daily care and maintenance of grossing room including cryostats and staining setups, cameras, printers, electronic labelers and stocking of supplies.
Monitors specimen storage and discard.
May perform photograph, radiography (faixtron), and microwave fixation.
Ability to work safely with hazardous waste and chemicals, per regulations
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
An earned associate degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology, obtained from an accredited institution, preferred OR an earned high school diploma and some completed education or training in related science or medical technology courses from an accredited institution. This education must include coursework in medical laboratory technology courses OR science courses that includes chemistry, biology, or chemistry, biology or medical laboratory technology in any combination.
Experience:
A minimum of one year experience in a Surgical Pathology or Histopathology grossing room or equivalent.
Individual must have at least 3 months documented laboratory training. Must have experience/knowledge of pathology medical terminology.

A Little More About What You Will be Doing
The Instrument Technician is responsible for cleaning and reprocessing a variety endoscopes and accessories, use of the reprocessing machine and all related functions, and maintaining a safe and clean working environment. Assists with cleaning other patient care related equipment including gurneys, stretchers and other equipment and items following infection control policies and procedures.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
Performs and maintains the reprocessing of endoscopes and scope washers.
Identifies problems with equipment and assists in arranging for repairs.
Maintains documentation related to the inventory and repair of endoscopes.
Demonstrates an awareness of the daily schedule and maintains a steady level of efficiency.
Maintains compliance with regulatory standards (OSHA, BBP and biohazard waste removal), accreditation standards, standard methodologies and Center policy and procedures that impact patient, employee and environmental safety, and reports observations of non-compliance.
Implements related infection control practices to prevent cross-contamination.
Performs manual and mechanical cleaning methods, cleaning implements and equipment (automated flushing systems and re-processors).
Performs pre-cleaning and transport of used scopes and accessories.
Use of high standard disinfectants (chemicals, use of test strips, exposure time, shelf and use life).
Demonstrates a solid understanding of endoscopic supplies and equipment.
Performs leakage testing procedures, test methods, and actions required following a failed leak test.
Accurately completes all required logs.
Orders and stocks supply and medical inventory.
Participates in the Center's QAPI program.
Education:
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Completion of a formal or on the job endoscope reprocessing training program and ability to demonstrate proficiency preferred.
Experience:
One (1) year of experience in Sterile Processing or Surgical Technologist experience to include decontamination, wrapping, sterilization and infection control of basic instrumentation or related field preferred.

No Call/ Weekends REQUIRED
GENERAL SUMMARY: Works as a skilled technician who possesses knowledge of aseptic/surgical technique and is able to provide surgical technical skills for patients undergoing obstetrical and gynecological procedures. Performs duties to assist families in the childbearing process. Prepares the operating room, selects, plans, organizes, and effectively utilize instrumentation when participating and assisting the surgeon in the scrub role, taking into account physician preferences and patient care principles. The Obstetrical Technician is a member of the obstetrical team and is responsible to assist the physician and nurse with assigned duties.
Minimum Education and Experience:
1. High school level of education or GED equivalent.
2. Certification and/or successful completion of an Operating Room/Surgical Technologist training program are preferred and/or experience in lieu of a training program.
3. Associate degree in Allied Health or equivalent combination of education and clinical experience preferred.
4. Current Basic Life Support Certification required.
5. Prefer hospital and/or medical work experience, which provide a basic knowledge of patient car

Salary Range: Minimum 22.58/hour - Maximum 26.09/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
