Position Summary:
The IT Support Specialist position is expected to provide exceptional customer and managed IT services to our clients and employees. Create and implement computing solutions for individual users, workgroups and college classrooms. This includes telephones, printers, laptops, tablets, cell phones, and other peripheral equipment. Research new applications and solutions to ensure secure computing at the endpoints. Install new hardware and software. Job Description
General Summary
Under general supervision, processes necessary highly sensitive requests for Protected Health Information (PHI) relating to subpoenas, court orders, and summons and certifies information as required. Interacts daily with a variety of external requestors by providing front-line customer service to attorneys, clinicians, patients, and government agencies in person and by telephone. Oversees accounts receivable as it relates to invoicing, posting, and collections for the Release of Information division of the Health Information Management Department. This position demands an environment of exceptional confidentiality and strict adherence to and knowledge of regulatory requirements guided by state and federal laws. Also acts in the capacity of the ROI Team Leader within the department as necessary.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
High school graduate or equivalent required. Graduate of an accredited Health Record Technician program with RHIT preferred.
Minimum of three years' experience in a Health Information Management Department or other healthcare setting performing release of information duties.
Experience with processing government regulatory, subpoenas/court orders and legal requests related to litigation cases.
Team members performing in this role must have a minimum of 6 months experience in the department and a detailed knowledge of departmental policies, HIPAA and state laws, and other regulatory requirements.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong analytical and organizational skills; basic math skills; filing systems; State and Federal legal requirements for releasing health information; basic medical terminology; ability to prioritize workloads, meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure; ability to work with general supervision; excellent communication, interpersonal, customer service and problem solving skills. The CSE department consists of eight faculty members who serve students majoring in Computer Science and Computer Engineering. Computer science offers concentrations in artificial intelligence, digital media, cybersecurity, information systems and analytics, and theory. The department also provides instruction for students in general education and service courses, as well as the information systems and analytics program. The Computer Engineering degree has been ABET-accredited since 2007. The CSE Department is housed in the 127,000 square foot LEED Gold certified Euler Science Complex that opened in 2012 and has 4 computer labs with 90 dual-boot Windows/Linux workstations and access to 3D printers, a laser cutter, CNC machine, and other engineering equipment. Department faculty expertise includes algorithms, artificial intelligence (including machine learning), cybersecurity, graphics, information systems, networks, operating systems, software engineering, and full-stack web development.
International trips with students occur annually through the department's Roth Center for Missions Computing, which has a 45-year history of assisting Christian organizations with special software needs. Ongoing faculty and student research includes funded work for the defense sector. Faculty and students also participate in nano-satellite projects funded by a variety of government and private agencies.

The department's Don Wood Foundation Engineering Hub hosts a full machine shop, a rapid prototyping lab with 3D printers and an LPKF printed circuit board machine, a drone room, and multiple research spaces. The engineering initiative is on the university's strategic plan for growth and is growing. The department's transformational partnership and grant from the Don Wood Foundation have accelerated and invigorated the integration of Taylor's established engineering programs with innovation and entrepreneurship.
