The Judge Group company history timeline

1970

Two years after leaving Villanova, Martin Judge started what would become known as The Judge Group, forming the company in March 1970 and incorporating it in June 1970.

The Judge Group was founded in 1970 by Martin E. Judge, Jr. as a permanent placement company that helped clients find qualified engineering and management professionals.

From its original two employees in 1970, Judge's workforce has grown to more than 9,000 professionals successfully delivering solutions to our clients across the globe.

1980

The company also expanded into the Southeast region, opening the Tampa, FL office in 1980.

1982

In 1982, Marty saw opportunity in manufacturing computers and Judge Computer was started as a service company for schools and businesses.

In 1982, the company began recording appreciable sales growth, racking up 30 percent increases in its revenue, compounded annually--a pace it would maintain for 17 years.

1985

In 1985, The Judge Group moved into the information technology (IT) sector by providing IT personnel on a contract basis, an important and lasting addition to the company's business scope.

1986

By January of 1986, Judge Technical Services (now Judge Technical Staffing) was formed with a focus on information technology contract staffing.

1988

In 1988, Judge Imaging Systems was born and quickly advanced as leader in the document management and imaging reseller and solutions market.

To increase profitability, The Judge Group entered the document imaging business--an area of particular importance to Martin Judge--in 1988.

1990

At the peak of its production in 1990, Judge had produced and sold over 10,000 units per year.

1995

A Plan for Growth Formed in 1995

Beginning in early 1995, the company added sales, marketing, administrative, and engineering personnel to its four existing regional offices, as well as to its national division in Foxborough.

In 1995, the company had 1.3 million billable hours, which, at an average rate of $38.99 per hour, accounted for nearly 36 percent of the company's total revenues.

The expansion-oriented strategy implemented in 1995 also included a series of acquisitions, which enabled the company to quickly increase its portfolio of services.

1996

In 1996, Judge expanded its portfolio of services by acquiring Berkeley Training, a Philadelphia based company.

Industry analysts were predicting overall revenues to reach $11.4 billion in 1996.

1997

The Judge Group's IPO was completed in February 1997, raising $21 million.

1998

In March 1998, the company paid $4.3 million to acquire Information Solutions Inc., an information technology staffing and solutions provider with offices in Detroit and the United Kingdom.

The changes assuaged investor fear somewhat, helping the company's stock to rise to $6 per share by May 1998, but the company was far from cleansing its reputation on Wall Street.

2001

By early 2001, the company had either met or exceeded analysts' growth expectations for six consecutive quarters, helping to improve its tarnished reputation on Wall Street.

2006

In order to better serve our clients' project-based application needs, the company launched Judge Business Solutions in 2006, now Judge Consulting.

2010

Then, to serve one of the hottest emerging global markets, Judge executed a joint venture with a United States/China outsourcing company to create JudgeOrchestrall in 2010, which became Judge China.

2011

In 2011, Judge continued its international expansion by entering the Toronto, Canada market.
