Responsible for implementing corporate, field, and office ESH policies and procedures across assigned business units and/or project sites. Supervise safe behavior of all craft workers and employees on assigned projects. Interface with SBU leaders, site supervision, subcontractor management, and government agencies (OSHA, EPA, MSHA). Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety & Health or related field (or equivalent experience). 5+ years of ESH experience required. Strong knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, DOT, EPA regulations. Accreditations preferred: CHST, ASP, CSP, ICRA. Previous CCIP experience preferred. The IT Technician works under the advisement of the Help Desk Manager to support computer hardware and software issues and resolve end user concerns relating to technology. The Project Engineer assists Project Managers to ensure that work installed on the project meets plan and specification requirements. Duties and Responsibilities Assures compliance by becoming intimately familiar with the assigned project plans and specifications. Reviews shop drawing and submittals. Reviews plans from the standpoint of value analysis and constructability, ensuring appropriate materials are utilized. Communicates inconsistencies to the architect. Recommends labor saving and other cost-saving methods, which will save Layton and/or the owner money in actual construction. Attends and takes notes for project team meetings, including weekly Owner/Architect meetings and subcontractor coordination meetings. Distributes meeting minutes to participants. Publishes weekly progress reports for assigned projects and follows up for receipt, review, and distribution of information required for project construction. Updates project schedules as needed. Assists in bidding and in developing scope of work for trade contractors. Works with the superintendent to prepare project schedule, including establishing dates for receiving shop drawings and milestones necessary to complete the project on time. The Project Manager is responsible for the overall planning, management, procurement, scheduling, and execution of work for assigned construction projects. May be assigned responsibility for one or more projects at a time. Maximizes project profitability and promotes the Layton objectives and goals. Achieves quality and safety standards and exceeds owner expectations by delivering predictable outcomes. Duties Champions “The Layton Way” by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers. Ensures that “Constructing with Integrity” is delivered by working with honesty, unity, safety, and quality of work. Works well with Layton's “Two in the Box” application working well with your counterpart (Superintendent) to ensure successful project delivery and to strengthen client relationship. Assists in the preparation of estimates for the project and prepares project budget. Leads the project team in preparing the project management plan (PMP) and organizes and conducts pre-award and pre-construction meetings Participates in value engineering services as appropriate, negotiation and preparation of project subcontracts, and responsible for obtaining permits and resolving other regulatory requirements as necessary. Prepares a project schedule and develops milestones necessary to successfully complete the project in concert with the project superintendent. Controls the contract documents and determines their completeness and consistency and plans the successful execution of the construction contract. Manages project materials and equipment procurement within the project's budget and consistent with the project delivery schedule. Monitors the project site for quantity, cost, safety, quality, and schedule performance with the project Superintendent and develops and monitors project quality, safety, and risk management plans. Negotiates owner and subcontractor change orders and manages the resulting cost and profit impact. Develops the monthly client pay requests and follows up on collection. Controls the payment of job costs based on document review and approval. Coordinates with the job cost accountant for payments and lien releases and participates in monthly accounting and project reviews. Manages all final close out procedures for the project including as-built drawings, close out, letter of substantial completion, and letter of recommendation. Interacts with Estimating to provide project cost information for the estimating database. Manages client relationship and all meetings with client. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management or related field, or the equivalent education and experience. Preferably at least 5 years experience working in commercial construction. Understands estimating concepts to the level required to verify bids, understand market rates, and to process change orders, etc. Understands contractual language and concepts and how to protect the company while providing quality service to the client and has a working knowledge of construction laws and practices. Understands building codes and other design requirements as well as plans, blueprints, and specifications. Effective working as a team member and knows how to delegate to other team members to achieve organizational and customer goals. Skilled at making verbal and written presentations and communications with others. Frame metal studs and install drywall Installs architectural finishes according to specifications and plans if necessary, on job. Maintains a clean and safe job site to ICRA and Company standards. Reads blueprints to determine measurements, sizes, locations, types of walls, footings, floors, finishes, etc. Utilizes carpentry math to calculate measurements required to construct facilities. Applies knowledge of wood and metal finishes. (Finish Carpenters) Determines elevations and layout through the use of builder levels, transits, lasers, etc. Interact with facilities and subcontractors in a professional way. Forms and pours footings and walls, shored decks, and edge form for slabs. Installs architectural finishes according to specifications and plans if necessary on job. Reads blueprints to determine measurements, sizes, locations, types of walls, footings, floors, etc. Applies knowledge of concrete and its properties. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Has high school diploma or equivalent. Preferably 2 plus years prior general carpentry experience. Performs essential duties and responsibilities efficiently, accurately, and safely with or without reasonable accommodation and without posing threat of harm to self or others. Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of Hospital Construction variables in situations where exact standardization exists; interprets a variety of complex instructions. Owns the tools required of the Carpenter position. Understands and conveys basic English commands, questions, and instructions regarding commercial construction.
