The Heritage at Lowman history

It all began in 1911 when Melissa Rauch Lowman, after the sudden death of her husband, gave her 950+ acre farm and other property to the Lutheran Church with the stipulation that a home be established to provide for her and her three dependent adult children.

On March 5, 1990, Lowman Home amended its Certificate of Incorporation to change its name to Lutheran Homes of South Carolina, Inc.

Shortly after that in 1991, the Franke Home, a ministry of the downtown Charleston Lutheran Congregations merged into Lutheran Homes and subsequently relocated to Mount Pleasant.

Lutheran Homes of South Carolina began serving older adults beyond its retirement communities in 1995 when it established Lutheran Hospice.

BeWell Home Services began serving older adults who wish to age in place in their own homes in 1996.

Victoria Geronimakis has been the Admissions Director for the Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center since 2001.

Tammy Bird, Business Office Director has worked for the Heritage at Lowman since March 2002.

Ashley Hyman began her tenure at the Heritage at Lowman in 2004 as the Director of Independent Programming and then moved into the marketing department before transitioning into Director of Independent Living role.

Beth McLean joined Lutheran Homes of South Carolina in 2013 as part of the Midland's Lutheran Hospice team.

Kacey has been employed with Lowman since 2014.

BeWell@Home, a program which helps older adults plan for their future care needs, began in 2016.

She then served as the Assistant Administrator before assuming the role of Executive Director in 2017.

Carla Whitesell-Dahl joined the team here at the Heritage at Lowman in June 2019, first as the Director of Memory Support and now currently serves as the Director of Active Lifestyle.
