The LUTHERAN HOME, opened in 1936, is a nonprofit residential and nursing facility for the elderly on twenty acres at 2116 Dover Center Road in WESTLAKE. The home is owned and operated by the Lutheran Home Association, which consists of seventy-five Lutheran churches in Northeast Ohio.

1971

The Davenport Lutheran Home opened its doors in 1971 in this new building.

1974

In Vinton in 1974, due to the need to meet state requirements in the current building, the board elected to build a new home across the street.

1980

In 1980 the home expanded its facilities, expending $5.4 million to erect an addition which increased its capacity from eighty to 222 residents.

1986

In 1986 in Vinton, an existing wing was remodeled and construction of a lounge and dining room were added to provide service to thirteen residents.

1994

In April 1994, ten assisted living apartments were opened as part of the Vinton Lutheran Home.
