What you'll do The Environmental Services Lead, under the direction of the departmental supervisor and managers, monitors services provided in Environmental Services. Environmental Services Lead will ensure the assistance and support Housekeeping staff and supervisor to our clinical partners and patients, families and visitors meets expectations and needs. The goal is to provide a safe, pleasant atmosphere for patients, physicians, staff and other clients. Enhances patient services in both direct and indirect patient care by providing support to patients and health care team members. Housekeeping staff and Leadership will have interaction with patients in a positive and informative manner. Performs cleaning duties in all areas of the Bassett Healthcare Network. Understanding and performance of all safety, infection control, and administrative policies is required. Travel to regional sites as needed. * Provides relief coverage in the absence of the Supervisor. This includes daily task assignments and projects planning * Assists with departmental structure, operating procedures and core staffing to meet demand for services * Communicates clearly, professionally, and honestly with staff, peers, and customers * Demonstrates and explains the correct method and importance of applying thorough cleaning techniques for area of responsibility * Assist with record keeping and employee documentation * Perform Quality Assessments on front line staff * Assist Supervisor in daily operations management, project planning and completion, staff training, provides feedback for performance evaluation and improvement. Monitored by observations and QA inspections performed monthly * Assists Supervisor in monitoring operating performance standards for the department which ensure the effective day to day operation of the department * Trains and retrains staff as necessary according to department and infection control standards * Reports problems to Supervisor before and end of shift * Ensures staff assembles equipment daily to utilize best practices * Monitors end of shift disinfection and storage of equipment applied daily * Properly maintains and inspects equipment used of cleaning services and patient care * Perform front line staff duties to fill in for staffing shortages or meet peak service needs * Contributes to overall hospital safety program * Monitors daily obstructions and organizes removal of items for storage * Daily checks proper position of furnishing. To be monitored daily by supervisor * Responsible to return furniture to proper locations * Job Specific Competencies: * Can conduct all assignments of an Environmental Services Technician 1 and go through training for Tech II * Coordinates and participates in the departmental orientation and on hand training for all new staff * Initiates all 2 week, 30, 60, 90 day follow up for New Housekeeping Staff. Coordinates required in-services for Housekeeping staff * Maintains all training records and educational documentation for Housekeeping Staff and coordinates need with supervisor/ management * Support as needed with team coaching; staff support on units and discharges. Supports with phone lines and coordination of assignments.
