What you'll do
The Registered Professional Nurse III, Acute Care is accountable for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process. The RN assesses, plans, delivers, coordinates, integrates, and evaluates nursing care related to patient's needs. The RN contributes to the support of patients through interdisciplinary teamwork. The RN III is accountable to assure that care provided is consistent with applicable standards, regulations, statutes and state, federal law. Serves as a resource for other staff and clinicians as required.
* Provides nursing care and services to patients throughout the life span and in various settings consistent with educational preparation.
* Collects, analyzes and records relevant patient health data accurately, with no more than 3-5 exceptions, as measured by random supervisory chart review and/or direct supervisory observation and co-worker feedback.
* Analyzes assessment data to identify patient problems, with no more than 2-3 exceptions, as measured by random supervisory chart review and/or direct supervisory observation.

* Adheres to approved, research-based practice standards, with no more than 2-3 exceptions, as measured by direct supervisory observation and random supervisory chart review.
* Directs and supervises patient care provided by LPNs and support personnel 100% of the time according to department guidelines, as measured by co-worker feedback and managerial observation.
* Demonstrates consideration of safety, effective utilization of equipment and materials, and cost in managing patient care, as measured by direct supervisory observation and co-worker feedback.
* Acts effectively as charge nurse, group leader or preceptor when assigned, as determined by co-worker or preceptee feedback and direct managerial observation.
* Writes a progress note that demonstrates an understanding of the patient's status and progress toward achievement of goals (80-90%).
* Effectively precepts new staff members or students as determined by preceptee/student feedback and direct managerial observation.
* Ability to function in charge nurse or leadership capacity as determined by practice arena.
* Advocates for patients to ensure that care preserves and protects the patient's autonomy, dignity and rights.
* Delivers care in a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to patient diversity, 100% of the time, as measured by no significant, substantiated patient or peer complaints received by the manager/supervisor.
* Assures that patients have informed consent signed for indicated procedures, 100% of the time, as measured by random supervisory chart review.
* Acts on behalf of patients in an ethical manner 100% of the time, as measured by co-worker and patient feedback and managerial observation.
* Adheres to ANA Code of Ethics for Professional Nurses.
* Acquires and maintains current knowledge and skills in his or her area of practice.
* Provides proof of current licensure validation to supervisor. (To achieve excellence, one must do this in a proactive, timely manner prior to due date).
* Completes required unit credentialing according to departmental policy by providing documented evidence of completion to supervisor.
* Provides to supervisor evidence of completion of all required training and competency validation. (To achieve excellence, one must take personal responsibility for this task and complete by the due date).
* Participates in level appropriate number of hours of educational activity, according to pathway, related to job function annually and provides documented evidence of attendance or activity to supervisor.

What we need from you
Education:
* 2 year / Associate degree in Nursing, required or...
* Vocational / Technical Diploma Professional Nursing Program, required or...
* 4 year / Bachelor's degree in Nursing, preferred
All RN's hired and do not currently hold a BSN will be expected to demonstrate enrollment in a bachelor's prepared nursing program within 4 years of hire. BSN must be completed within 10 years. RN's licensed on or before 12/19/17 are/remain exempt from this requirement.
Experience:

The Medical Cardiology unit is a 29-bed unit consisting of 1 private room, 13 semi-private rooms and one 4-bed room. Patients are received from the Emergency Department, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, CCU, MICU, physician offices, and other facilities when inpatient admission is necessary.
The patient population served includes male and female, acute and chronically ill patients with a variety of cardiac and medical diagnoses. Most patients admitted to the unit require telemetry monitoring after receiving minimally-invasive and invasive cardiac procedures. The age range is from young adult (18 years) to geriatric (100+) years.

Department/Unit: ICU-Surgical And Neuroscience - B2 Work Shift: Night (United States of America) Salary Range: $83,200.00 - $93,184.00 The Surgical and Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (SICU and Neuro ICU) has a combined total of 30 intensive care beds designed to provide specialized care to the critically ill adult (14 and older) patient. The unit has a usual 50/50 split of patient population between the neuro and surgical patient population.
The focus of care is includes patients with life-threatening conditions related to major elective and emergency surgical procedures, multi-trauma, traumatic brain injury, spinal injury, stroke, seizure, sepsis/multi-organ system failure, hemodynamic instability and failure to wean. The SICU and Neuro ICU patient needs encompass but are not limited to comprehensive physical assessments, intensive monitoring, treatment of laboratory values, ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring.
SICU-Neuro ICU nurses require the following skill set - ICP monitoring via EVD or bolt, spinal drains/catheters, brain oxygen monitoring, Artic Sun therapy, continuous EEG, intra-arterial catheter, non-invasive cardiac output, mechanical ventilation, continuous renal replacement therapy, reconstructive flap monitoring, and massive blood transfusion among others. Nursing will support the following on-unit procedures including placement of arterial lines, central lines, external ventricular drains and ICP monitors, SEPS drains, bedside bronchoscopy, abdominal washouts, tracheostomy, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube placement, lumbar punctures, chest tubes, pigtail drains and others.
