Working closely with internal teams, clients, and thought leaders, the Director ensures content aligns with clinical standards, program goals, and industry regulations-helping advance knowledge and improve patient outcomes across multiple therapeutic areas, including Endocrinology, Rare Disease, Dermatology, Haematology, and Cardiovascular/Renal/Metabolism. Key Responsibilities
Medical Writing & Content Development
Develop high-quality, scientifically accurate content for healthcare professionals (physicians, nurses, pharmacists, etc.) across digital, virtual, and live platforms.
Produce PowerPoint decks, text-based copy, and educational deliverables aligned with client and program goals.
Stay current on clinical guidelines, therapeutic pipelines, and key literature in assigned therapeutic areas.
Collaborate with thought leaders and faculty experts to ensure engaging and up-to-date content.
Create assessments, surveys, and polling questions; analyze outcomes data to generate meaningful insights.
Medical Education Expertise
Consult with internal teams and clients to design evidence-based, instructionally sound education programs.
Apply adult learning theory and instructional design best practices to HCP education.
Define program goals and success metrics; provide strategic recommendations for future initiatives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with colleagues across Sales, Strategy, and Project Management to ensure client satisfaction.
Maintain accountability for timelines, deliverables, and quality standards.
Support team performance reviews and continuous process improvements.
Skills & Qualifications
3-5 years' experience in medical writing/content development at a medical education or communications agency.
Proven expertise in HCP-focused education programs (digital, live, hybrid formats).
Advanced degree in life sciences (MD, PharmD, RN, NP, PA, PhD preferred; BS required with relevant experience).
Strong subject matter expertise in one or more therapeutic areas (Endocrinology, Rare Disease, Dermatology, Hematology, Cardiovascular/Renal/Metabolism).
Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in PowerPoint and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities in deadline-driven environments.
Comfortable working independently and collaboratively, with professionalism in stakeholder engagement.
Proficiency with cloud-based tools (SharePoint, Google Drive, Workfront; knowledge of Box, EndNote, Tableau a plus).
Willingness to travel up to 20% for program delivery and training.

The Role
Modern Health is seeking a part-time (approximately 20 hours per week) Medical Director with expertise in psychiatry to join our Clinical Strategy & Research team. This role is responsible for oversight of the high-quality psychiatric care and medical management across our digital mental health platform. Reporting directly to the Chief Clinical Officer, the Medical Director will provide clinical oversight for our medication management network including credentialing, compliance and quality review processes, support go-to-market strategy through thought leadership, and engage directly with customers and external stakeholders.
This role is pivotal in shaping the delivery of psychiatric services, advancing Modern Health's reputation in the market, and supporting our adaptive care model that serves a full spectrum of member needs.
This position is not eligible to be performed in Hawaii.
What You'll Do
Clinical Oversight & Regulatory Compliance
Maintain accountability for the quality and safety of psychiatry and medication management services, providing guidance on clinical protocols and best practices for digital delivery
Provide clinical leadership and escalation point for high risk or complex cases
Provide clinical input for the psychiatry and medication management network to include credentialing, recredentialing and performance reviews
Advise on policies to support regulatory compliance in psychiatric care, telehealth, and medication management. Review and advise on incident management including peer review, continuous quality improvement, and clinical risk management for psychiatry and medication management services
Collaborate cross-functionally to support continuity and maintain evidence-based standards and safety policies across care modalities
Commercial & Customer Engagement
Partner with Sales, Client Success, and Marketing to represent Modern Health's clinical excellence in psychiatric care during client-facing activities (e.g., prospect calls, webinars, RFPs, industry presentations)
Deliver impactful presentations, demos, and written responses that translate complex clinical concepts and outcomes for a broad audience

Who You Are
Board-Certified Psychiatrist (MD or DO): Medical degree (MD or DO) with completed psychiatric training and active, unrestricted licensure to practice psychiatry in the United States
Medication Management Expert: Demonstrated experience in evidence-based psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and medication management, including digital/telehealth models

Represent Rise Up Recovery in court, when necessary
Participate in interviews for new staff
Provide leadership to the Counseling Team (staff and interns) through clinical supervision and reviews, consultation, training and support to ensure contract compliance and program quality
Evaluate individual and overall team performance on a regular and ongoing basis; use collected data and information to make needed improvements including adjustments as needed to counselors caseloads and work assignments to maximize quality of care, and staff productivity.
Ensure that participant and program goals are met in accordance with policies and procedures.
Actively monitor assigned supervisees performance goals and professional development in accordance with agency expectations.
Conduct performance evaluations for counseling team; proactively identify and resolve performance issues. Recommend employees as appropriate for recognition or professional development.
Actively monitor accuracy and completeness of data and Counseling Services databases in accordance with agency rules and expectations.
Produces program performance reports in accordance with agency rules
Ensure supervisees timesheets, expenses, leave requests, etc. are complete, accurate, and in compliance with agency policies, procedures, and practices.
Support and comply with the values, policies, and practices of Rise Up Recovery.
Abide by the agencys confidentiality policies and HIPPA rules.
Provide occasional support or consultations as needed to promote referral services with other RUR programs or to external agencies.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Chief Program Officer
