Travel required- most in person patient and provider visits will be in Virginia Beach. Ensures compliance with regulatory, accrediting and company policies and procedures. May assist in problem solving with provider, claims or service issues. Department/Position Overview: Sentara Leigh Hospital Intensive Care Unit, AACN Gold Beacon Award recipient, is comprised of 20 licensed critical care beds and has an average daily census of 18 patients. The ICU RN's are required to have a wide array of knowledge, skill and ability to competently and safely provide critical care to our patients. Frequent ongoing education, new skill acquisition and skill validation are provided and supported by an experienced ICU CNS for new and experienced ICU nurses. ICU staff are supported by an interdisciplinary care team which in part includes unit based respiratory, physical, speech and occupational therapists. Interpreter, nutrition, palliative, chaplaincy and ethical services are readily available as well. Our ICU has onsite and eICU pulmonary critical care intensivists and their team of physician extenders 24/7. We are currently in search of a Charge Entry Specialist for our Administration location in Moraine. (THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION) Essential Functions Accurately enters charges in a timely manner. Maintain open lines of communication with Providers, Operations Manager, and Revenue Recovery staff. Has knowledge and understanding of CPT, CPT II, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding and how to use it to represent the services provided. Corrects patient demographics, insurance IDs, and insurance packages, as needed. Advises and communicates to Providers proper CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes. Advises practice personnel in finding correct insurance package in the Athena Practice Management system and ID number formats for clean claims submission. Identifies possible problems with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) transmissions from Athena to clearinghouse to carrier and reports problems and/or trends. Participate in educational activities such as insurance seminars, Athena or billing entity updates and releases. Experience Minimum of one (1) year of medical office billing experience in primary care. Experience in Athena Practice Management software.
