Position Overview: The New Jewish Home's SkillSpring program seeks a dedicated and culturally responsive Training Instructor to lead Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)-aligned work readiness instruction and exam preparation for our Community Resources for Employment and Development Program (“CRED NYC”) Program. This full-time role supports participants through the early and middle stages of the program-covering foundational workplace skills, healthcare career awareness, eldercare practices, and CNA test review. The Training Instructor will work closely with case managers, Nurse Educators, Lehman College faculty, and employer partners to ensure that participants are prepared for both classroom and clinical training, and for long-term success as Certified Nursing Assistants. Key Responsibilities: • Deliver high-quality, trauma-informed instruction for CRED NYC participants, focusing on healthcare career readiness, eldercare, professional development, and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) exam preparation. • Facilitate engaging, interactive lessons aligned with DYCD's CRED NYC curriculum requirements, incorporating cultural humility, communication skills, conflict resolution, and job retention strategies. • Collaborate with SkillSpring's case managers, job developer, mental health staff, and Lehman College instructional team to integrate academic, career, and social-emotional learning across program phases. • Support participants' preparation for CNA credentialing through tutoring, study groups, mock exams, and one-on-one academic coaching. • Track participant attendance, progress, engagement, and outcomes using internal databases and DYCD reporting tools. • Ensure daily participant sign-in/sign-out and contribute to monthly data reviews and continuous improvement. • Contribute to recruitment, enrollment, and retention efforts by fostering a welcoming and inclusive learning environment that reflects participants' cultural backgrounds and lived experiences. • Create and adapt intergenerational curriculum and project-based activities that connect healthcare practice to community service and long-term career planning. • Attend team meetings, professional development sessions, and CRED NYC learning exchanges; stay current with best practices in trauma-informed instruction and adult workforce development. • Collaborate with SkillSpring leadership to refine tools, templates, and instructional materials that improve learner outcomes and program quality. • Uphold all CRED NYC contract requirements, deliverables, and compliance protocols. • Perform other duties as assigned to support participant success and program integration. Qualifications: • Bachelor's Degree in Biology or related field required; strong content knowledge in healthcare preferred. • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience delivering training or instruction to young adults or adults from underserved communities. • Passion for adult education, youth development, and healthcare workforce advancement. • Experience preparing learners for credentialing exams and delivering work readiness curriculum. • Demonstrated ability to build trust with learners and apply trauma-informed, culturally responsive teaching practices. • Skilled in curriculum implementation, data tracking, and continuous quality improvement. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to foster a safe, inclusive learning environment. • Flexible schedule with availability for some evenings and occasional weekends. • Knowledge of healthcare employment pathways, CNA job functions, and eldercare environments. • Familiarity with NYC workforce systems, DYCD programs, or healthcare sector a plus. Acting as a direct service provider and a referral source to outside resources, the Workforce Project Specialist must possess a strong work ethic, a passion for working with underserved young adults, and be able to build and manage relationships with internal and external partners contributing to the professional success of the SkillSpring workforce programs. Additionally, the Workforce Project Specialist will assist in collecting short-term and long-term program outcomes, culminating in an annual report. REPORTS TO: Young Adult Program Manager- Workforce Programs DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure the health, safety and well-being of participants in the young adult program, by providing support and supervision of all activities. Facilitation of young adult programming including professional development, clinical skills training, health career exploration Monitor participation of young adult programming by scheduling, tracking and reporting on various data points, including but not limited to attendance and surveys Perform and develop creative outreach to all graduates of SkillSpring's Workforce (Young Adult) Programs through various communication means (I.e. phone, email, and social media) Serve as a career development consultant to all program participants, post program - via the delivery of workshops, trainings, presentations, and other events to foster participant professional success Build and maintain a network of potential healthcare employers for job opportunities Conduct 1-1 relevant counseling sessions with participants upon request Administrative duties including maintaining an updated Alumni database, tracking SkillSpring graduates' educational and occupational outcomes, data entry, and compiling data and reports for funders On occasion, will support the SkillSpring team, leading and supporting other program activities as needed Create an environment that is diverse, culturally sensitive and relevant to the needs of young adults Performs other related duties as required *This position may require some mornings, evenings and Saturdays at multiple sites. Skills & Requirements JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree required Experience with underserved, urban young adults and first-generation college students Passion for working with youth and young adults Familiarity with healthcare career trajectories Experience developing new roles or new initiatives Familiarity with research methods and program evaluation is a plus SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES: Excellent interpersonal skills; Engaging, extroverted personality is a strong asset Strong computer literacy- specifically Excel, is required Ability to read, analyze and interpret raw data Working knowledge of a CRM is highly desirable Competent in teaching resume building, interview skills, and professionalism Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals (writing sample required) Experience in planning and facilitating group workshops/events Ability to work independently and as a part of a team Excellent verbal and written communication required Attention to detail and deadlines Flexibility and adaptability a must Bilingual preferred (Spanish/English) PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Required to stand and talk or hear, walk and sit.
