* Ability to educate the patient of procedure expectations before, during and after the procedure.
* Instruct the patient of post-catheterization limitations and restrictions.
* Assists in the orientation of employees and students.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The Chicago School is hiring a Simulation Technician to serve as a key member of the IllinoisCOM simulation team. The Simulation Technician will play a crucial role in supporting and maintaining the college's simulation-based education programs. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, educational understanding, and healthcare knowledge to effectively operate, maintain, and troubleshoot simulation equipment and technologies.
Working closely with faculty and the simulation team, the Simulation Technician will ensure the smooth operation of simulation scenarios, manage simulation resources, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the simulation program. This role is essential in providing realistic and high-quality simulation experiences that enhance the education of osteopathic medical students.
The position is located at our Chicago campus. The Simulation Technician will report to the Director of Simulation. The anticipated hire date for this position is January 1, 2026.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES:
Technical Operations and Maintenance
Manage inventory and supplies within approved budget limits
Submit documentation for all expenses and purchase requests
Track equipment maintenance costs and warranty information
Provide input on technical budget needs during planning cycles
Set up, operate, and maintain a wide range of simulation equipment.
Troubleshoot and perform basic repairs as trained or instructed by manufacturer.
Implement, maintain, and/or facilitate work with IT on simulation software and hardware needs
Scenario Support and Development
Collaborate with faculty to set up and run simulation scenarios, ensuring all technical aspects are functioning properly.
Assist in the development of new simulation scenarios, providing technical input and solutions.
Operate simulation equipment during scenarios, including manipulating mannequin physiology and managing audiovisual systems.
Education and Training
Provide training to faculty, staff, and students on the use of simulation equipment and software.
Stay current with advancements in simulation technology and methodologies, sharing knowledge with the team.
Contribute to the development of simulation-based curriculum and assessment tools.
Administration and Data Management
Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance, and inventory.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement
Support research activities through technical expertise

Printing and Design Support

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Healthcare, Education, Biomedical Engineering, or Information Technology)
Minimum of 2 years of experience in healthcare simulation or a related field
Proficiency with common simulation-based technology, computers, and basic office software
Experience with audio/video editing and AV technology
Familiarity with printing technology and experience in print design

Licensed as a paramedic, nurse, or in a similar healthcare field
Ability to become an ACLS and PALS instructor
Experience in an osteopathic medical education setting

Job Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Provide desktop support on all four campuses.
* Install and configure personal computer hardware and peripheral equipment, including but not limited to monitors, keyboards, and CD/DVD drives; printers; laptops and other mobile devices.
* Perform routine maintenance and repair on computers and peripheral equipment, laptops, mobile devices, printers; network cabling and connected networked devices.
* Setup and deploy mobile devices, such as iPads, Android and Windows tablets and laptops.
* Troubleshoot and repair computers, printers, and other peripherals located in staff, faculty and student-use areas.
* Troubleshoot and assist with repairing network-connected, device-related issues, such as LAN and wireless connectivity and equipment connectivity (computers, printers, telephones).
* Install and configure computer software, including but not limited to, operating systems and applications such as Windows, Mac OS, and MS Office suite; various email applications and anti-virus software; third-party applications used in teaching and administrative environments.
* Coordinates/escalates technology issues with the OIT Help Desk, Network Services, and other OIT departments.

Minimum Qualifications
* Associates degree plus 2-3 years of work experience in installing and maintaining desktop computer systems, laptops and mobile devices; or current A+ Certification or higher certification, plus 1-2 years of work experience.
* Experience working with and troubleshooting computer equipment issues in a networked environment; some experience with troubleshooting network issues.
* Experience with using various software deployment methods including deployment tools, scripts and batch files.
* Experience with video and sound equipment including projectors and racked AV equipment.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and on independent projects.
* Ability to use creative and out-of-the box thinking as well as standard industry methods for providing technical support.

Job Summary:
An employee in this classification performs work of moderate difficulty providing technical support for Elgin Community College theater productions and events. The position is responsible for supporting NMFWRI's ecological monitoring and restoration activities on public and private lands throughout New Mexico, Arizona, and Colorado. Activities are related to all phases of restoration from research and planning through project implementation and capacity building.
Duties And Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Perform field measurements and assessments of forest, wetland, and riparian resources and ecological indicators, including data recording and quality assurance. Work is often performed in remote locations over difficult terrain. Perform computer entry of field data including using Microsoft Access or other database software with attention to detail. Assist the monitoring specialist in generating summary reports and analysis of field and vegetation treatment data. Perform field mapping of project sites using Global Positioning System and Geographic Information Systems technologies. Take a leadership role in crew preparation, management, and accomplishment of field tasks. Assist NMFWRI staff and NMHU faculty in conducting training related to ecological measurement, treatment, and analysis techniques. During the field season months this includes participation and leadership in the field monitoring crew, training student interns or work-studies when available, and overnight travel. Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of NMFWRI equipment. Participate in the accomplishment of riparian, wetlands, forest, and watershed restoration treatments. Maintain regular attendance and clear communication with supervisors and colleagues in office field, and online working environments. Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications
EXPERIENCE : 1 year experience in the measurement of riparian and wetland ecological indicators. EXPERIENCE : 1 year experience with plant ID in the range of southwest wetland and riparian vegetation types. EXPERIENCE : 1 year experience in woody and non-woody invasive vegetative species management. EDUCATION : Wilderness First Aid or higher.

The New Mexico Forest and Watershed Restoration Institute ( NMFWRI ), which is located at New Mexico Highlands University, is a statewide effort that engages government agencies, academic and research institutions, land managers, and the interested public in the areas of forest and watershed management. We work with agencies and stakeholders at all levels! The position is responsible for supporting NMFWRI's ecological monitoring and restoration activities on public and private lands throughout New Mexico, Arizona, and Colorado. Projects will require travel across the state. Activities are related to all phases of restoration from research through project implementation and monitoring. Position will focus on assisting upland Crew Leads with ecological monitoring in forest environments and spend a majority of the time in the field. Pay is commensurate with experience. Position will only be filled if funding is available.
