Duties
Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and patient assessments.
Diagnose and treat various medical conditions under the supervision of a physician.
Order and interpret medical imaging and laboratory tests.
Perform procedures such as injections and assist in surgery
Educate patients on health maintenance, disease prevention, and treatment plans.
Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Collaborate with healthcare teams in a teaching hospital environment to enhance patient care.
Assist in the development of treatment plans and follow-up care protocols.
Skills
Strong knowledge of physiology and medical terminology.
Proficiency in hospital medicine practices for both inpatient and outpatient care.
Familiarity with medical coding for accurate documentation and billing processes.
Ability to perform medical imaging interpretation effectively.
Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with patients, families, and healthcare staff.
Capability to teach and mentor junior staff or students within a teaching hospital setting.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for maintaining accurate patient records.

Our practice serves Clark County with a population of 2.26 million people and surrounding areas. We work closely with all pediatric subspecialties providing care for children at 3 local hospitals. Singing River Orthopedics Clinic - Gulfport | Full-Time | Monday - Friday (8:00AM - 5:00PM) | 15190 Community Road Gulfport, Mississippi, 39503 United States The Physician Assistant works under the supervision of physician(s) to deliver comprehensive health care to patients. He/she assists with clinical management services, within the scope of their practice on patients in collaboration with other team members. He/she provides education to staff and patients as needs are identified; and assumes other duties as assigned.
The Physician Assistant practices according to a Board-approved protocol which has been mutually agreed upon by the Physician Assistant and the supervising physician. Each protocol shall be prepared taking into consideration the specialty of the supervising physician, and must outline diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and categories of pharmacologic agents which may be ordered, administered, dispensed and/or prescribed for patients with diagnoses identified by the Physician Assistant. Each protocol shall contain a detailed description of backup coverage if the supervising physician is away from the primary office. Although licensed, no Physician Assistant shall practice until a duly executed protocol has been approved by the Board.

Education
Must be a graduate of a Physician Assistant program accredited by The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs. Must meet licensure requirements as provided by the Mississippi State Board of Medical Licensure.
License
Mississippi State Licensure as a Physician Assistant required.
Certification
National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) Certification required.
Must complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer.
Experience
A minimum of two (2) years' experience as Physician Assistant. Experience in an acute care hospital or a hospital owned physician clinic setting preferred.
Physical Demands
Work is moderately active: involves sitting with frequent requirements to move about the office, move about the facility, and to travel to another facility within the SRHS service area. Work involves exerting a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Work involves using many physical motions in performing daily work activities; subject to exposure of body fluids, sputum and tissues, which may carry the hazard of infectious disease. Work involves using repetitive motions: substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and or fingers while operating standard office equipment such as computer keyboard.
Work involves being able to perceive the nature of sound at normal speaking levels with or without correction; the ability to make fine discriminations in sound. Work requires close visual and acuity and the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus, i.e. shift gaze from viewing a computer monitor to forms/printed material that are closer to compare data at close vision.
Must be able to be active for extended periods of time without experiencing undue fatigue. Must be able to work schedules assigned with the understanding that changes may be instituted according to the needs of the hospital for off days, shifts or weekends.
Mental Demands
Must demonstrate keen mental faculties/assessment and decision making abilities. Must demonstrate superior communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone. Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills. Must possess emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels. Must demonstrate ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in complex situations is required. Must have the ability to maintain collaborative and respectable working relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations
Special Demands
Must possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette. Must possess proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.), MS Outlook and Word.
Must be able to demonstrate appropriate clinical judgment and apply appropriate professional skills to a patient population of all ages.
Must have a comprehensive knowledge of advanced nursing and primary care principles, methods and procedures; a thorough knowledge of medical theories, practices and protocols relative to the scope of practice; a thorough knowledge of subject areas such as growth and development, pathophysiology, psychosocial assessment, pharmacology, nutrition, disease management, and the principles of health maintenance.
Weekend and Holiday call rotation where applicable.
