The Grade 3 Teaching Assistant is a member of the school's Lower Division and reports to the Lower Division Head. This full-time position, from January 2026 to June 2026, comes with the responsibility of working with faculty and staff to teach 3rd grade in support of the school's mission and curricular goals. Roles & Responsibilities Working with the lead teachers to monitor the class schedule. Supporting all four lead teachers in their individual classrooms and across the grade level as a whole. Assisting teachers with lesson preparation by getting materials ready and setting up equipment. Revising lesson material with students individually or in small groups. Ensuring the classroom environment is safe and clean. Overseeing students during non-classroom times, including in-between classes, and during all lunch, recess, and carpool times. Collaborating with lead teachers to recognize issues students are facing and recommend solutions. Assisting in social-emotional problem-solving in an age-appropriate manner. Communicating with families around absences and dismissal changes. Helping lead teachers to create lesson plans. Complying with state, school, and class rules and regulations. Education/Certification/Licensure Required: Advanced degree in clinical social work, counseling, clinical psychology, or a related field A valid Massachusetts license to practice therapy as LMHCC, LiCSW, School Psychologist, or Clinical Psychologist Experience Required: At least 3 years of proven experience in school-based counseling. Preferred: Experience working in an independent boarding / day school. Competencies Required: Proficiency in social-emotional curriculum creation and instruction. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated computer expertise including GoogleSuite, Microsoft Word, and Adobe. Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external constituencies. Understanding of confidentiality and related issues. Receptive to supervision and professional development. Desire to be a part of a dynamic educational community. Physical Abilities Required: Must be able to work at a computer for up to 8 hours each day in conjunction with OSHA requirements. Must be able to teach in a classroom setting and use relevant instructional technology. Must possess the physical and mental stamina to manage long days and multiple student sessions. Must be able to move around the Milton Academy campus without restriction. Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.
