1917

WWI: A COMMITMENT TO SERVICE—1917 During World War I, the School began compulsory military training as part of the curriculum.

1940

WWII: OPEN DOORS—1940 At a time of incredible exclusion in the world, something also seen in many independent schools, Pennington opened its doors and welcomed students of diverse backgrounds.

1972

Shortly afterward, the school's name evolved to its present form, sometimes with the addition of "for Boys." It was not until 1972 that Pennington once again became a coeducational institution.

1975

In 1975, the Edmund V. Cervone Center for Learning was founded to address the academic needs of bright students with learning disabilities.

In 1975, the Center for Learning, one of the nation's leading secondary school programs for bright children with learning disabilities, was created within the school to serve a small number of college-preparatory students.
