We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Product Management to lead our Progress OpenEdge product management team. Reporting to the Head of Product Management, this is an exciting opportunity to transform the product strategy and vision for OpenEdge, our flagship $200M+ business application development platform. This product also plays a key roll to the development of the Progress Data Platform. The ideal candidate will be experienced managing an established product line with a strong existing customer base that is constantly evolving to respond to changes in technology and to new customer requirements. In this role, you will: Product Strategy: Define and drive the OpenEdge product strategy considering all commercial and technical aspects to balance retention and growth. Includes gathering and analyzing financial data, pricing and packaging, gathering market trends to prioritize product direction. Market Analysis: Stay current with technology trends, particularly in software development, gather data and prioritize strategic goals to keep OpenEdge up to date and ahead with technological advancements. Voice of Customer: Champion customer needs and translate feedback into actionable product strategies. This includes identifying new requirements, building customer and ISV partnerships, articulating use cases and business value, and prioritizing existing and new capabilities to develop a comprehensive multiyear roadmap. People Management: Coach, build and grow a team of experienced product managers and align their work with organization goals. Evangelism: Articulate the product strategy and vision to customers, partners, industry analysts, and the press. Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with various departments, including engineering, marketing, IT, sales, and customer and professional service, to ensure alignment and successful execution of the product strategy. Develop and evangelize the product vision internally and externally, building cross-functional alignment around strategy Product Positioning: Articulate the product strategy and vision to customers, partners, industry analysts, and the press. Represent OpenEdge and Progress at key industry and community events. Portfolio Management: Identify new product revenue opportunities and define cross-sell opportunities in collaboration with other product managers in the Application and Data Platform Business Unit and with other Progress Business Units. Define and monitor KPIs to evaluate product performance and team effectiveness AI: Focus on Artificial Intelligence as it relates to software development, with an emphasis on Generative AI to improve developer productivity and provide GenAI capabilities in OpenEdge business applications. Engineering Partnership: Work closely with Engineering on product requirements, use cases and agile practices to ensure the right features are being developed at the right time at the right pace. Your Background: 7+ years of experience in Application Development technology product management of a $100M+ portfolio. 5+ years in people management. A degree in Computer Science or a related field is a strong plus for working in this highly technical environment. MBA is highly preferred. Balance: focus on retention and growth, across strategy and operations and ability to move from the strategic to the tactical on a constant basis. Excellent technical and operational understanding of application development and deployment platforms. Experience with agile development Strong awareness of technology trends in application development, data management, cloud, security, and generative AI. AI experience preferred. Ability to set a technical vision and path forward for customers and partners. Demonstrated passion for technology and a strong aptitude for business strategy. Ability to gather, analyze and interpret financial analysis and portfolio health Strong communication skills, both written and oral, for external and internal presentations. Proven success in collaborating across organizations and leading cross-functional teams with the ability to influence without authority and align organization. Demonstrated leadership in people management including coaching and talent development. Base Salary Range: $189,125 - $233,625This position is also eligible to participate in our performance-based annual corporate bonus plan. In this role, you will be helping our customers succeed in their business by providing remote database administration tasks for their production OpenEdge deployments. You will be the expert for our MDBA accounts and their business continuity and high availability policies. That's a great opportunity to work with the largest and most senior team in the OpenEdge database ecosystem, supporting the largest managed database service in the industry.
