The Raymond Group company history timeline

1936

But what George Raymond started in 1936 as one of Southern California’s original lath and plaster companies has grown into much more.

1944

Lala Juggilal Lala Kailashpat Singhania took over The Raymond Woollen Mill in the year 1944.

1958

The first exclusive Raymond Retail showroom King's Corner was opened in 1958 at Ballard Estate in Bombay.

1968

Raymond had set up a readymade garments plant at Thane in the year 1968.

1968 The company introduces a new lightweight wool, Trovine.

1969

In the meantime, Raymond, which remained focused especially on the textile market, moved to boost its operations in the clothing sector, founding subsidiary Raymond Apparel in 1969.

1969 A clothing subsidiary, Raymond Apparel, is established.

1979

The company took a first step in this direction in 1979, when it began construction of a new factory in Jalgaon.

1985

In 1985, the company extended its reach in the clothing sector with the launch of the Park Avenue brand.

1986

Launched 'Park Avenue' the premium lifestyle brand of the company in the year 1986 provides a complete wardrobe solution to the men who like to dress well & be current on styles & fashion.

In 1986, the company expanded the Park Avenue line to include a range of ready-to-wear business clothing.

1990

The company also took its first step on the international retail scene, opening its first foreign Raymond shop, in Oman, in 1990.

1991

1991 The company launches production of condoms through a subsidiary.

1994

Tom began with The Raymond Group in May of 1994 and has accumulated over 30 years of construction experience working with developers, general contractors, and subcontractors.

1995

In 1995, the company formed a technical partnership with Allegheny Ludlum Corp., based in the United States, to produce high value-added and specialty cold-rolled close annealed and silicon steel products.

1995 Steel production begins.

1996

The Renaissance Collection made of Merino wool blended with polyester and specialty fibres (Super 100S to Super 140S) were comes to existence since 1996 and also in the same year Raymond's denim also introduced.

In 1996, Raymond merged its condom production into a new joint venture company, J.K. Ansell.

In 1996, the company formed a new Aviation division, and launched its own air charter service, Million Air.

1997

Travis brought his education and experience to Raymond in January of 1997 when he began working as an Estimator and Project Manager.

1999

Michael Potter joined Raymond in 1999 with more than 13 years of construction experience.

The company added extra-fine cashmere and merino wool blends, called the Chairman's Collection, in 1999.

The company invested heavily in boosting its production, and by 1999, the steel division accounted for 20 percent of Raymond's total revenues.

2000

After a year in 2000 launched 'Be' an exclusive product line of ready-to-wear designer clothing for men and women.

Vijayapat Singhania retired in 2000, making way for his son, Gautam Hari Singhania.

2002

More successful for the group was its launch of the Be retail designer clothing collection in 2002.

2003

Already, the company had begun to position itself for further growth in its international sales, buying out Regency Textile Portuguesa Limitada in 2003.

2003 The ColorPlus casual brand is acquired.

2004

In 2004 Super 220S fabrics ruled in market under the Chairman's Collection.

The company also acquired ColorPlus in 2004, giving it control of one of India's leading casualwear brands.

2005

During the year 2005 the company had set up state-of-the art jeanswear facility 'Everblue Apparel Ltd.' near Bangalore and also in the same year 'Celebrations Apparel Ltd.' was started for the manufacturing of formal shirts.

By 2005, the company had opened 16 Be stores and had attracted a number of India's prominent designers.

2006

Also in the same year of 2006 formulated J.K. Talabot Ltd JV with MOB France for the manufacturing of files and rasps.

Set of Raymond's third worsted unit at Vapi in Gujarat during the year 2006 and in the identical year launched the design studio in Italy for cutting edge design capabilities for exports and domestic brands.

2006 Denim production is expected to top 40 million tons.

2007

As at October of the year 2007 Raymond opened exclusive Zapp flagship store at Eranakulam in Kochi.

2008

He began as an Estimator/Project Manager in our Southern California office and, in 2008, was tapped to lead Raymond’s San Diego team as Vice President and Area Manager.

2016

Contributing projects to Raymond’s 2016 ranking included the Jacobs Medical Center in San Diego and Wilshire Grand Center in Los Angeles.

2017

In April 2017 the Company had issued and allotted 8.35% - 1500 Unsecured Redeemable Non-Convertible Debentures (NCD) for Series J of Rs1000000/- each for cash at par aggregating to Rs 150 crore on private placement basis.

2018

In March 2018 the Company had issued and allotted 8.65% - 1000 Unsecured Redeemable Listed Non-Convertible Debentures (NCD) for Series K of Rs1000000/- each for cash at par aggregating to Rs 150 crore on private placement basis.

2019

Raymond maintains a culture of safety and in February of 2019 reaches three years of operations without a recordable incident in Southern California.

2022

Glance user base grows by 30% YoY to reach 183 million in Q1 2022
