The Sack Company company history timeline

1945

H.A. Sack Co., Inc. was founded in 1945 by Harry Allen Sack Sr. and served the Southeastern Georgia area.

1955

The four brothers continued to hold these offices until 1955.

1956

Sack in 1956, the company was then purchased by his brother-in-law, Albert Roesel, and Albert’s partner Gene Dawson.

1958

The Sack Lumber Company of Central City was purchased in 1958 from the Hord Lumber and Grain Co.

1966

Merlin M. Sack died in 1966 and later that year the stock from his and Jacob Sack’s estates were sold to the company stockholders.

1971

In 1971 Wayne Sack sold his shares in the company, in addition to those held by his father’s estate, to the stockholders.

1973

In 1973, Albert Roesel bought out his partners and became the sole owner of the business.

In 1973, the Yost Lumber Co. in Wilber was purchased and later that same year the Beatrice yard flooded.

1974

Still growing as the company has surpassed the century mark, the yard at Wilber has been restocked and it opened for business on October 7, 1974.

1992

Seward yard was purchased in 1992.
