We are a Los Angeles based OTR company, hiring a CDL A driver with at least two years experience. We deliver dry goods with a pay range starting at . 55 - . 65 per mile, depending on experience. Pay is issued weekly via direct deposit. The normal schedule is 2-3 weeks away, followed by 1 week at home.
The tractor trailer is equipped with a refrigerator/freezer and AC.
We allow passenger ride alongs after 2 months of successful employment and with a signed waiver.
Pet ride along also permitted.
The Transportation Department operates Chautauqua Institution's passenger shuttle and tram system, which is a complementary system for patrons that regularly circulates throughout the grounds and special events. Shuttle buses also circulate in the main parking lot. Operating safely while providing an outstanding patron experience is part of the team's responsibility. The transportation system runs daily from 7:40 am to 8:00 pm with extended service hours for select events and programs.

Compensation for this position starts at $18.00/Hour and, with demonstrated experience and qualifications, candidates may earn up to $19.50/Hour.
About Your Work Day
Follows assigned on-grounds route to pick up and drop off guests in a company shuttle bus or tram.â¯
Maintains the safety of guests while operating vehicles.
Operates a shuttle bus with accessibility lift in a manner that follows state and local traffic laws.
Ensures the company vehicles are clean and presentable.
Conducts self in a professional and positive manner.
Provides excellent customer service including acknowledging guests, answering questions, and providing basic information. Assists guests with belongings, luggage, wheelchairs, etc. as needed.â¯â¯
Remains in uniform as required by department standards.â¯
Communicates with supervisors and colleagues about the status of guest requests and assigned tasks.â¯â¯
Reports all incidents and injuries to the appropriate supervisor, as required by law and policy.â¯
Informs supervisor of vehicle maintenance needs.
Special Requirements
Drivers must be a minimum of 21 years of age and have a valid/unexpired Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B or C with a Class P endorsement.
Chautauqua Institution complies with the US Department of Transportation's (DOT) alcohol and drug testing program for operators of passenger vehicles with a CDL.
Chautauqua conducts pre-employment alcohol and drug testing for all candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment. Drivers are subject to random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident testing as a condition of continued employment.
Chautauqua Institution complies with the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Section 19A requirements for covered drivers.
Chautauqua conducts pre-employment checks of driver's license abstracts and required medical examinations. Drivers are subject to annual driver's license abstracts and defensive driving observations and biennial medical examinations, road tests, and oral/written tests.
About Your Schedule
Chautauqua Institution and Chautauqua Hotel Company offer flexible schedules, full and part-time, for seasonal employment during summer operations starting annually each June and concluding in August. Seasonal employment may be available earlier (pre-season) and beyond season (post-season) based on business needs and candidate availability. Schedules typically include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as a requirement.
While you will confirm your final schedule with management at the time of an interview and offer of employment, you should generally anticipate the following schedule options for this position:
Will work at least three shifts a week, including one Saturday or Sunday shift. Shifts are scheduled to cover 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 11:00 pm, seven days a week.

Logistics & Work Environment:

A Day in the Life:
The CDLDriver is a key player in HHFB's Distribution Team, assisting in reclaiming and distributing food from various sources. They interact with food donors and are expected to maintain professionalism and exceptional customer service. Responsibilities include:
Safely transports product pick-ups and deliveries to and from donors, program partners, and agencies.
Assists with loading and unloading warehouse inventory, as needed.
Builds and maintains rapport with donors and/or their employees to foster continued support and a professional working relationship; while in donor facilities, abides by donors' personnel and food safety policies.
Completes accurate and timely documentation for shipping, receiving, unloading, and warehousing of product, as defined by HHFB policies and procedures.
Completes accurate and timely equipment maintenance and safety reports and driver logs and reports equipment safety problems immediately.
Through visual inspection, product handling and temperature monitoring, inspects and secures product donations to assure compliance with food safety and vehicle sanitation policies.
Takes personal responsibility in following all policies, principles, and best practices for food and physical safety.
Prepares truck route for daily business including refueling, maintenance inspections and cleaning activities.
Conducts weekly cleaning and sanitizing of vehicle and equipment, ensuring inside of cab is clean, free of trash and contains necessary safety equipment and documentation, such as insurance and licensing.
Maintains all current licenses, certifications, and medical cards in accordance/compliance with HHFB and DOT-mandated requirements.
Other duties as assigned.
To Qualify for this Position, you must have:
Valid CDL Class A license.
Two or more years professional truck driving experience, preferably in a food or food-related environment.
Basic math skills: add, subtract, multiply and divide units of weight accurately.
Strong commitment to safe work practices including road/vehicle safety, quality record keeping, customer service, and operational efficiency.
Ability to safely operate all types of warehouse equipment, including, but not limited to, pallet jacks, forklifts, and dock levelers.
Proven ability to work steadily and independently with minimum supervision and to follow standardized written procedures.
