Job Description
As a driver for UMT we have certain needs and expectations for daily tasks and abilities.
Drivers are responsible for checking their schedules when they are sent out for the next day to ensure understanding, and to properly plan their day.
Drivers are expected to provide clients with pleasant customer service and maintain safe actions and speeds while driving in their shift for UMT.
Drivers are expected to exhibit a team work mentality, with a willingness for flexibility and understanding in a need for schedule changes as they occur.
Drivers are responsible for maintaining accurate and orderly paperwork to be sent to administration weekly.
Qualifications
Drivers must be at least 23 years of age
Drivers must be able to life a minimum of 50 lbs
Drivers must be capable of entering and exiting their vehicle multiple times a day
Drivers must be capable of driving in large cities, such as Wichita, Kansas City, Tulsa
Drivers must be able to pass drug screening, motor vehicle record check and background checks
Driver must have a Kansas state issued driver's license
Additional Information
As a Non Emergency Medical Transportation company our main hours of operation are 6 AM - 6 PM Monday through Saturday, however as we travel anywhere within the state of Kansas, as well as outside of the state borders when necessary, hours needed for transport can exceed those hours of operation on either end.
We are looking for individuals who are wanting and willing to drive up to 200 miles outside of the city of Wichita for transport needs, with wide hours of availability to accommodate what our contracts need from us.
As a driver for UMT you would be an independent contractor, so you supply what your hours of availability are and we schedule you within that based on the trips we have assigned. Not only do you determine your own hours to a degree, you get to enjoy your vehicle as your office space every day! The schedule tends to become more fluid on some days, but you always get to choose the music, or muzak!

Job Responsibilities:
Product donation local pickups and deliveries throughout the eight-county service territory.
Maintain and build a professional rapport with donors to foster continued support for the Foodbank.
Maintain accurate records of vehicle operations and maintenance on a daily basis, in accordance with DOT and Foodbank regulations.
Load and off-load freight, supplies, and/or equipment, as required, using a pallet jack or tow motor.
Detect and eliminate safety and sanitation hazards ensuring that all product donations meet Foodbank and AIB standards.
Maintain all current licenses, certifications, and medical cards, in accordance/ compliance with Foodbank, DOT, State and Federal mandated requirements.
Maintain a clean and operable vehicle, inside and out, (i.e., fuel, oil, air pressure, filters, light bulbs, etc.) ensuring the Foodbank brand is upheld as you represent the organization in the community that we serve.
Complete pre and post DOT/CSA inspections by recording the vehicle conditions on the DVIR (driver vehicle inspection report) and turn in the report at the end of each day.
Ensure complete compliance with all local, state, and federal motor vehicle regulations to avoid citations that could result in fines or penalties to you personally or to the Foodbank.
Cover routes for other drivers when needed.
Performs other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum high school diploma and two (2) years of professional truck driving experience, preferably in a grocery or food-related environment encompassing sales and customer relations.
Possession of a valid Ohio Class A-Commercial Driver's License (CDL), current Medical Examiner's Certificate (medical card) with the requirement of renewing no less than every 2 years, current DMV printout with no moving violations, and forklift certification, with the necessary experience to pass a performance review.
Proven ability to drive tractor-trailers and operate standard warehouse equipment. Ability to safely operate all types of equipment, including, but not limited to, pallet jacks, forklifts and tow motors.
Excellent trouble shooting and diagnostic skills with the ability to define problems and move to resolution for preventative equipment maintenance.
Strong mechanical aptitudes and a working knowledge of transportation and warehouse equipment.
Knowledge of DOT regulations and CSA requirements.
Proven ability to work steadily and independently with minimum supervision and to follow standardized procedures and set schedule.
Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records. Add, subtract, multiply and divide units of weight successfully, compute ratio, rate and percent. Write reports and record transactions with proper format and legibility, using all parts of speech.
Exert force and/or lift or carry items weighing up to 50 pounds frequently.
Work inside freezers and coolers with a temperature range of -10 degrees F. to 38 degrees F.
Ability to work well with other staff and to relate well to donors and agency representatives. Speak to customers with poise, voice control and confidence, imparting information in a clear and understandable manner to uphold the Foodbank brand in the community that we serve.
Must be an enthusiastic professional with a high level of customer orientation and relationship building skills.

Summary Description:
Under the direction of the Director of Day Services, the Transportation Driver is responsible for providing non-emergency transportation to clients, that reside in the Omaha Metropolitan Area, to and from our Day Habilitation Center. This is a part-time position, including a daily morning route (6:30-9:00 A.M) and afternoon route (2:45-5:00 P.M). Candidates must have a clean driving record and are willing to authorize and pass a criminal background check. Wage is dependent on experience with consideration for those who have previously worked in the field and worked with wheelchairs vans.
Essential Functions
Safe Transportation of Client(s) & Employees
Comply with all 360 Community Services -Personnel Policies and Procedures as well as local, state, and federal motor vehicle regulations, laws, and ordinances. This includes the Department of Transportation requirements regarding safe operation of a 15- passenger vehicle.
Maintain safe passage of all clients and employees through strict adherence of seat belts. For non-ambulatory clients, ensure wheelchairs are safely secured with agency approved harnesses as required by law.
Ensure effective monitoring of clients via a 2nd or 3rd employee assigned to your route.
Ensure the timely departure and return of each client by creating or following the most streamlined transportation route possible.
Ensure clients are transported to the correct address/location and handoff procedures are followed with the client's parent/guardian.
Maintain a valid driver's license in the state of Nebraska, follow all license restrictions and always keep driver's license on person while operating a motor vehicle.
Refrain from transporting clients, employees, and/or volunteers while smoking/chewing tobacco; consuming alcohol or illegal substances; or from taking medications that may impair vision, hearing, or reflexes prior to or while operating an agency motor vehicle.
Refrain from using interactive wireless communication devices while operating a motor vehicle. Interactive wireless communication devices include, but are not limited to, mobile, or cellular-telephones, a text messaging device, personal digital assistants (PDA's), audio-video players that send or receive messages, and laptop computers.
Refrain from allowing any unauthorized individual to operate a motor vehicle owned or leased by 360 Community Services, including a temporary replacement vehicle.
Notify the Director of Day Services immediately and to provide any additional notification to 360 Community Services as required by policies and procedures, if any of the following should occur:
Suspended or revoked driver's license for any reason.
Citation for any moving violation, while operating a motor vehicle (including driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol).
Involvement in a motor vehicle accident with or without client passengers on board.
Any illness, injury, physical condition, or use of a medication that may impair or affect the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle
Van Upkeep
Ensure van is fueled regularly using agency's P-Fleet gas cards.
Maintain fuel & odometer records and submit reports to the Director of Day Service.
Maintain the safe operation of vans through the completion of a pre-route van inspection, including monitoring check engine lights; checking oil, antifreeze, transmission, and windshield fluid levels; tire pressure; and functioning light bulbs.
Submit inspection reports and/or notify the Director of Day Services immediately on vehicle issues that would affect the ability to safely operate the van.
Ensure van is clean and sanitized following each route and conduct a full interior/exterior cleaning at an assigned Car Wash every month or as necessary.

Works collaboratively with the Director of Day Services on special projects related to transportation and/or Van Upkeep.

Position Summary: JTC Academy drivers are responsible for operating school buses and vans following the safest and most efficient routes possible given the location of the children and the school as determined with the staff person in charge of transportation. Other responsibilities include obeying all applicable laws and regulations to ensure the safety of passengers; ensuring the bus is empty at the end of each run and that all children are accounted for; knowing the routes, locations of stops, and which children should board at each; and monitoring and maintaining a clean and functional vehicle at all times. Job Description
Dues-paying membership in Service Employees International Union Local 73 is a condition of employment.
Compensation: $22.28 per hour
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Drives CJE vehicles to safely transport clients and other designated passengers to and from designated destinations observing all state traffic laws and Agency rules and regulations in accordance with pre-arranged schedule.
Properly and safely operates all vehicle equipment including, but not limited to, lift, fire extinguisher, and emergency equipment.
Must be physically able to safely operate a vehicle under varied environmental conditions (such as daylight/evening hours, wet/slippery/iced streets, windy) at all times ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the passengers.
Must be able to properly secure passengers, including those passengers with assistive devices such as various wheelchair restraints.
Must be able to lift and transport box(es) of equipment (such as safety restraints) and other packages and/or materials.
Must be able to assist all passengers on/off the vehicle and transfer client's shopping bags on/off vehicles.
Must have physical ability, coordination, and mobility to safely and efficiently accompany and assist passengers with various capabilities at all times ensuring the safety and well-being of the passenger.
Must be able to safely and properly secure all clients within the vehicle for transport.
Must be able to communicate with, understand, and respond to client population and office staff.
Must be conversant and aware of the special needs of the client/passenger in order to ensure that clients/passengers feel safe, secure, and comfortable and are treated with consideration, warmth, personal attention and exemplary customer service.
Maintains accurate and current records including but not limited to daily schedules, daily/monthly mileage, vehicle inspections forms, client sign-in sheets and incident/accident reports.
Must be able to execute written documents on prescribed forms and in accordance with Agency/State regulations.
Conveys to Management relevant information about clients and passengers. Attends department meetings and participates in the transportation process. Attends additional meetings as assigned by Management.
Must have ability to communicate using telephone, including instances when assistance may not be available.
Maintains and wears uniform in compliance with company policy.
Maintains vehicles in clean, orderly, safe condition and reports to management in a timely manner any change in vehicle status and/or need for mechanical repair, within established guidelines.
Must be able to properly identify, understand, and safely utilize cleaning supplies and equipment for purposes of sweeping, wiping interior surfaces, sanitizing, and picking up and disposing of litter on vehicles.
Transports agency staff on agency business.
Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma or GED.
Paratransit experience preferred but not required.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must have a valid State of Illinois driver's license.
Must meet the requirements of the Agency's Driver Evaluation Policy as certified by the Secretary of State's Office (MVR check).
Must maintain appropriate driving record during employment as defined by the Agency's Driver Evaluation Policy.
Must meet all approval requirements of the agency responsible for insuring CJE vehicles.
Must comply with Department of Transportation requirements for physical examination upon hire.
Pursuant to state requirement, may be required to furnish a record of a physical examination within six (6) months prior to assignment on the job with recertification if a communicable disease has been contracted after the initial examination.
Must comply with CJE policies, rules, procedures, and regulations issued by the Federal Highway Administration regarding drug and alcohol testing.
Knowledge of service area preferred.

About Our Facility: JTC Academy was developed out of an intense need for programming that combines academics with therapeutic programming for youth having mental and acute behavioral health challenges that have often manifested into unmanageable, destructive and highly inappropriate behaviors. As a result, youth are often suspended or expelled, inappropriately placed, or placed in programs that only meet part of the youth's needs. Research and statistics indicate that when youth experience these types of experiences eventually culminating a life of hopelessness, starting with drop out or falling through the cracks, and leading to a bleak future, a cycle of failure, homelessness and criminal behavior.
Position Summary: JTC Academy drivers are responsible for operating school buses and vans following the safest and most efficient routes possible given the location of the children and the school as determined with the staff person in charge of transportation. Other responsibilities include obeying all applicable laws and regulations to ensure the safety of passengers; ensuring the bus is empty at the end of each run and that all children are accounted for; knowing the routes, locations of stops, and which children should board at each; and monitoring and maintaining a clean and functional vehicle at all times. Other duties as assigned by management.
Working Conditions:
Physical Effort: Mental/visual stress related to viewing of computer screens and printed material for prolonged periods. Lifting limited to a box of forms weighing 7-8 pounds. Prolonged periods of sitting. May experience stress related to productivity requirements.
Work Environment: Normal office environment with limited exposure to health or accident hazards. Note: We are a therapeutic residential treatment facility and at times, it can be noisy and stressful. This position has no interactions with youth.
Equipment Used: Computer, telephone, printer, calculator, fax machine, and copy reproduction equipment

Requirements: Any CDL holder who will or already drives a yellow school bus to transport pre-primary, primary or secondary school students from home to school, from school to home, or to and from school-sponsored events must obtain a School Bus Endorsement (S). A School Bus Endorsement. The School Bus Endorsement is required for this position. The CDL School Bus Endorsement (S) is a federal CDL endorsement and is not the same as the State of Illinois School Bus Permit (SBP) program. The CDL Driver hired for this position must also possess the Passenger Endorsement (P) on their license as it is a requirement in the State of Illinois for all School Bus Drivers of a yellow school bus to have both the S and P Endorsements. Any driver who transports school children 12th grade or below on behalf of a school or school bus company to/from school or for any curriculum based activities must have an SBP. This SBP requirement is mandatory regardless of the size of the vehicle.
SBP Requirements: Be age 21 or older.
Possess a valid and properly classified driver's license issued by the Secretary of State.
Successfully pass a written Passenger Endorsement (P) and a written School Bus Endorsement (S) exam administered by the Secretary of State.
Successfully pass a skills/drive test in a yellow school bus of the proper class for which the driver will be using the Passenger and School Bus Endorsements.
Affirm under penalty of perjury that you have not made a false statement or knowingly concealed a material fact in any application for a School Bus Endorsement.
Not have been repeatedly involved as a driver in motor vehicle accidents or repeatedly convicted of offenses that indicate disrespect for traffic laws.
