What you'll be doing: Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems and determine corrective action by checking blueprints, schematics, repair manuals and parts catalogs. Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions. Performing basic welding activities to effect repairs on facilities and equipment. Troubleshoot and repair Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's) and associated control systems. Perform and assign all preventive maintenance on facility and production assets. Follow blueprints, schematics, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications using a documented schedule. Perform boiler chemical and wastewater pre-treatment system testing, record results in logbooks / computer systems and make necessary chemical adjustments as required. Manage and assign all equipment maintenance, including repairs which cannot be completed during standard hours. Assume responsibility for all shifts in the maintenance department. Oversee and implement all maintenance related regulatory and environmental compliance requirements. Assume responsibility for all aspects of safety within the maintenance department. Perform Confined Space and Lockout / Tagout procedures where appropriate. Monitor training status of technicians and provide time for required training as needed. Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System. Partner with the Production Manager to develop, manage and maintain budget for building, equipment, capital expenditures and parts/labor. Train and develop maintenance partners. Perform other duties as assigned by leadership. Qualifications What we're looking for: High school and/or GED is preferred. Two-year technical degree in an appropriate background is preferred. Must be at least 21 years of age. Valid driver's license and a safe driving record are required. Must pass UniFirst's maintenance knowledge assessment to be eligible for employment. Knowledgeable in maintenance equipment. This includes wiring, electrical, mechanical, electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing required. Minimum of 3 years of work experience repairing industrial processing equipment in a production environment required. Applicable military experience will be considered. Minimum of 2 years of experience supervising maintenance personnel is preferred. Maintenance administration experience including planning, scheduling, budgeting, negotiating, parts management, vendor management, maintenance management systems is required. Ability to read blueprints and schematics is required. Ability to read and understand maintenance literature printed in English required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office skills is required. Experience in Hand & Power tools is required. Lockout / Tagout experience is required Ability to work overtime as needed is required. Ability to lift up to 80 lbs. The electrician technician will handle troubleshooting and repairs to keep equipment running and minimize downtime while supporting all other members of the maintenance group with any other repairs, projects, etc. deemed necessary by the department manager. Proficient with electrical troubleshooting and repairs. Test and replace fuses. Test and replace solenoids. Test and replace contactors / relays. Test and replace proximity / limit switches. Reset and replace breakers / motor starters. Adjust and replace photo eyes. Able to make conduit runs, wire pulls, and wire terminations. Proficient in performing pneumatic and hydraulic system repairs. Proficient working with single phase / 3 phase / 110V, 240V, 277V, 480V, and 24V control systems. Able to work with Voltmeter/Amp Meter to troubleshoot electrical systems. Proficient reading schematics/blueprints to troubleshoot electrical systems. Able to troubleshoot AC / DC control circuits. Able to troubleshoot motors and drives, then replace if needed. Proficient at troubleshooting PLC's and ladder logic. Able to cross reference and change out electrical devices with other brands. Able to troubleshoot by phone while communicating with other maintenance personnel or machine techs. Able to circumvent problems and find ways to keep machines running. Able to perform project work with little supervision. Able to communicate and problem solve with foreign and domestic techs by phone and online support. Perform electrical building maintenance. Assist with electrical PM as needed. Proficient with mechanical troubleshooting and repairs. Fluent with schematics and blueprints. 480V 3 phase wiring expertise. Comfortable working independently. CNC background a plus. 4 years manufacturing experience preferred. Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues. Machines/Tools/Equipment: Voltmeter, conduit benders, assortment of hand and small power tools, computer, basic office equipment, tow motor, etc. Salary-$35-$45 depending on experience. ELECTRICIAN The Industrial Electrician is responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective operation of equipment in VVF's operations. Basic Minimum Requirements: Must have five (5) years on-the-job experience as an industrial electrician. Experience in electrical troubleshooting, and installing and repairing pneumatic/electrical instrumentation, power distribution, and control/power wiring. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, and national electrical code. Experience working with AC/DC drives and motors, PLC's, sensors, and control devices. Experience with various Servo/Stepper/Custom drives systems as used on existing equipment. (Kinetics/Sercos/Lexium/Emerson Servos, Parker Stepper Drives, etc.) Experience with ethernet/RS232/RS485/Modbus+/DeviceNet communications to various equipment types in order to troubleshoot, diagnose, program and repair malfunctions. Experience working with mechanical components and systems, (motor, gearbox, bearing, driveshaft, sprockets, roller chains, etc.) Must have basic standard and metric hand tools (e.g. sockets, wrenches, pliers, channel locks, wire cutters).
