Job Description:
The Oregon Military Department is a state agency that supports that supports and oversees the Oregon Youth Challenge Program. You are NOT required to be in the Oregon National Guard to be considered for this position.
The Oregon Military Department is recruiting for 2 Group Life Coordinator 2. These are full-time permanent state position located within The Oregon Youth ChallENge Program in Bend, Oregon. Oregon Youth Challenge High School
Effective 2.1.26 there will be a 2.5% Cost of Living (COLA) increase applied to all steps in this salary range. This compensation listed in this announcement does not reflect the increase.
This position is classified as a Group Life Coordinator 2 however; we encourage candidates who meet the minimum qualifications of the Group Life Coordinator 1 to apply (Salary Range $3854.00 - $4841.00 monthly). We may underfill the position until the selected candidate fulfills the minimum qualifications for the Group Life Coordinator 2 Classification. Underfill will not exceed one (1) year from date of hire. (Please see underfill qualifications listed below).
The initial schedule for this position will be 10:00pm -6:00am.

This position performs the following major duties
• Responsible for the care, control, safety and security of youth in a 24/7 facility • Supervise youth with emphasis on safety, personal growth, teamwork and the program's eight core components. Promote positive youth development by establishing healthy professional relationships, role-modeling desired professional behaviors, maintaining an exceptional uniform appearance and ensuring a safe training environment. • Monitoring and reporting the behavior of cadets during daily activities, offsite community projects, academic instruction, meals and extracurricular activities. • Work effectively with youth who may have social, economic, emotional, or behavioral challenges. Assist youth in developing short- and long-term goals, overcoming obstacles, conflict resolution and developing life skills. • Plans, leads and participates in daily physical fitness activities which includes running and calling cadence. • Provides classroom instruction on a variety of topics related to program standards and character development.
What You Will be Doing
The Oregon Youth Challenge Program is an intensive alternative High School for "At Risk" 16-18-year-old Oregon dropouts. The program is funded, directed and sponsored by the State of Oregon Military Department, National Guard. It provides a unique educational opportunity for high school dropouts within an intensive military structure and overview. The students (Cadets) participate in daily academic instruction, community service, physical exercise (PT), 1+ mile run and the President's Council on Physical Fitness activities. The program is a two (2) phase enterprise consisting of a 22-week residential academic/military phase and a 12 month Post Residential phase consisting of life planning and community re-integration. The program curriculum is modeled on 8 CORE components that focuses on academic excellence, physical fitness, nutrition, community involvement, leadership and followership, health skills development and life planning. The program is staffed by professional teachers, counseling staff, residential supervision cadre and managers. The program is located in Bend, Oregon on land owned by the Federal Government on loan to the State Military Department.
Working Conditions:
Must be able to work under the following conditions with or without reasonable accommodations Occasional lifting and physical exertion is necessary to perform assigned tasks and duties. Occasional exposure to adverse weather and environmental conditions. Required to work various shifts; days, swing, graveyard, weekends and holidays and subject to occasional overnight travel. May come in contact with irate students, parents and the general public. Required to transport students in State-owned vehicles. Must be able to personally “call military cadence”. Extensive walking, regular marching, and extensive running with students. Position requires being on your feet and standing for entire 8-hour shifts. Requires average to above average physical conditioning. Must be able to maintain physical fitness standards in accordance with program requirements and demonstrate annually. Must maintain personal appearance standards in accordance with program requirements. As Part of the daily requirements both students and staff are required to participate in a regimen of exercise and physical training. This may include participating and assisting with a confidence course developed specifically for this program to build confidence in the students. Staff must be able to lead and motivate students in achieving course standards and participating in daily formations, group exercises and group runs. Schedule changes are frequent due to limited resources, National Guardsmen drills, illness, vacation. As a condition of employment, employee must be willing to work without issues/complaints.

Major Functions:
• Lead and assist in planning (prep time) & implementation of the daily after-school program under the direction of a Program Coordinator.
• Maintain a 20:1 ratio using dynamic student recruitment and retention strategies.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with youth in program, legal guardians, and school staff to increase program visibility within the community.
• Maintain close communication with direct supervisor and regularly provide student attendance tracking data, program progress and concerns as set forth by the continuous quality improvement process.
• Lead and assist in preparing a creative environment using academic, cultural and recreational enrichment including the preparation of needed supplies and materials. Monitors supply needs and informs direct supervisor when supplies are needed.
• Use age-appropriate methods that include facilitating of active and engaging learning experiences.
• Actively supervise students during program activities, always ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
• Maintain professional attitude, rapport and appearance with all program stakeholders.
• Communicate with school staff, legal guardians regarding program activities, student needs, academic performance and upcoming events..
• Attend all required staff meetings and professional development opportunities to expand knowledge and skills.
• Supervise student participants to ASAS-LA field trips and events as needed.
• Responsible for the distribution and tracking of supper/snack as outlined by schools' specific protocols.
• Responsible for maintenance and upkeep of classroom and any program space used. Reports potential facility and/or equipment hazards to direct supervisor.
• Responsible for maintaining all program materials/equipment in good condition.
• Understands and effectively communicates safety standards of program; as it relates to ensuring program areas are safe, well-ventilated and well-lit.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends if necessary.
• Willing to travel off-site meetings, trainings and events.

Working/Driving Conditions:
• Travel between After-School All-Stars, Los Angeles school sites and various field trip sites as well as in the community is required.

Summary of Duties
As a Generalist Caseworker, you will:
Perform the work of a Child Protective Services (CPS) Worker, Permanency Worker, and a Resource Home Certifier.
Conduct child safety assessments of alleged child abuse or neglect to determine if a child has been or is at risk of being harmed.
Engage with children, families, resource parents, and caregivers in a multitude of ways to achieve safety, permanency and well-being of children.
Identify and seek relative caregivers, resource parents, and adoptive parents.
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in human services or a field related to human service. Or
A bachelor's degree unrelated to Human Services and either:
One year of Human Services related experience. Or
Completion of coursework equivalent to certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency, or
An associate degree and either:
Two years of Human Services related experience. Or
One year of Human Services related experience and related training, coursework, or certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency.

You will have frequent local travel. Occasional travel may be hours away. On rare occasions, you will have overnight travel. The purpose of travel will be to transport children and connect with family members.

Providing operational leadership and guidance to Liens Negotiators and Assistants to maximize productivity and accurate and timely processing of client distribution agreements
Bring a thorough understanding of Liens-related issues and the ability to communicate and negotiate with doctors, medical providers, including Medicare, Medicaid, ERISA, hospitals, etc.
Ability to provide training and guidance to staff as they negotiate and document personal injury and attorneys' Liens
Communicating and negotiating with attorneys representing lienholders to resolve outstanding liens, maximizing client recovery
Compliance: Stay informed of lien laws, regulations, and procedures.
Client Communication: Assist Liens Department in answering client questions on the status of their liens and explain how lien resolutions impact their settlements.
Documentation: Draft correspondence and legal research memoranda related to lien matters and maintain organized records of lien negotiations and settlements.
Collaboration: Work closely with litigation, settlement, accounting and liens teams to support case resolution strategies.
Qualifications
Strong working knowledge of Personal Injury Liens
5+ years of experience in personal injury or healthcare lien resolution
Knowledge of medical billing and insurance processes is preferred
Licensed and in good standing with the California Bar preferred, not required
Experience communicating and resolving medical liens with governmental insurance (Medi-Cal, Medicare, Medicaid, VA, etc.), private insurance carriers, hospitals, and healthcare providers
Experience writing department processes and procedures preferred
Experience working in a plaintiff's law firm is preferred
Compensation
$175,000 - $250,000k annually depending on experience
