These split positions will be based out of the Bend highway crew in the winter months and will also work out of the Bend striping crew for the remaining 6 months each year.

A day in the life:
Operate a variety of heavy and light equipment and tools to maintain and replace roadway striping and legends.
Remove existing paint using sand blasting or grinding equipment.
Service and repair tools and motorized equipment.
Assist with weather related emergencies and operate snowplows, deicer trucks and other equipment to clear snow from roadways.
Perform traffic control and emergency assistance.
Maintain and repair delineators and milepost markers.
Perform paving operations and sign maintenance.
Perform minor maintenance including janitorial work, landscaping, painting and light carpentry.
Exposure to noise, extreme heights, all weather conditions, heavy equipment, pesticides and hazardous materials such as epoxy, paints, thermoplastics, thinners and acetones is expected.
Must be able to move around rough terrain, bend and stoop for extended periods and may need to lift up to 60 pounds.
May need to be available after hours, on weekends and holidays for emergency, on call and weather related purposes.

Minimum qualifications:
One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance work.
OR
Two years of general landscaping, maintenance, mechanical, farming, logging, and/or construction experience or training.
Special qualifications:
You must possess a current, valid commercial driver's license A (CDL-A) with a tanker endorsement, no air brake restrictions, no 5th wheel restrictions and no manual transmission restrictions, OR have the ability to acquire a class A commercial learner permit within 60 days of hire and a CDL-A with a tanker endorsement and restrictions removed within six months of hire (ODOT will cover training costs) to be considered eligible for this position.
A valid driver license and an acceptable driving record are required for this position. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks, including Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Clearinghouse registration and full query check for our final candidate(s) and annual query for current employees.

Maintenance Technician Responsibilities:

Perform mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic diagnostics on manufacturing machinery.
Support both older legacy equipment and newer, highly automated production lines.
Complete preventive maintenance, parts tracking, basic data entry, and work order documentation.
Maintain a clean, safe, and food-compliant work environment while adhering to GMP and safety standards.
Maintenance Technician Qualifications:
4 years of maintenance technician, millwright, or skilled trades experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to read schematics and problem-solve independently.
Experience working with industrial equipment such as conveyors, mixers, motors, forklifts, engines, boilers, or HVAC systems.
Comfort working flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, overtime, and rotating shifts as required.

The company provides a fuel card and a corporate card if they have to stay overnight. They pay for travel time. Most repair calls are day trips; they estimate 10-15 trips per year are overnight.
They are open to anywhere from 3 years' experience or higher. The electrical experience is key and more important than the mechanical, just because the mechanical can more easily be taught. Conveyor experience is not required, but a plus. Previous experience repairing mechanical and electrical machinery in a manufacturing setting. No entry level, need previous experience. Associates would be nice but not required if they have the experience.
Assignment length: Contract to direct - based on 1040 hours.
Hours: Core hours are 8-5, travel position so may leave to go to sites earlier and return later.
Overtime: Expect to work 50 hours per week. Will pay time and a half for OT. They on occasion get “night emergency calls” they pay OT for those calls whether 40 hours has been reached or not. Effective Feb. 1, 2026, the compensation plan for this position will be increased to reflect a Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) of 2.5%. The salary listed in this posting does not reflect the COLA.
