The Toy Association company history timeline

1916

The Toy Manufacturers of America, Inc., was founded on June 9, 1916.

1917

Henry Quinn-Pasin asks his father, Robert Pasin, about Radio Flyer, the iconic wagon company founded in 1917 by Robert’s grandfather, Antonio Pasin.

1922

Fears that foreign manufacturers would dump cheap goods on the American market (and not just in toys), prompted the Tariff Act of 1922 that effectively protected the still growing U.S businesses.

1930

In 1930, one of the first studies of toys and play were published, and educators and the culture at large were acknowledging how important play was in the lives of children.

1933

Brothers Kevin and Steven Meyer remember their grandmother, Mary Meyer, who started the Mary Meyer Stuffed Toy Company in 1933.

2021

Our manufacturing members account for 93% of US toy and game sales, which were approximately $38.2 billion in 2021.
