Carlos Carrazana

Carlos Carrazana (he/him) is a results-oriented leader with over thirty years of global management experience in international public health organizations, with an extensive background in operations, finance, strategic planning, technology, human resources, and change management.

Carlos was Save the Children’s chief operating officer for almost eight years. Working in over 100 countries and the United States, Save the Children is the world’s leading independent organization for children, with over 1,500 employees and an annual budget of $900 million. As Save the Children’s COO, Carlos oversaw multiple critical functions, including finance & administration, human resources, technology/cybersecurity, legal, risk management, internal audit & compliance, strategic planning, and change management.

Prior to joining Save the Children, Carlos served as chief operating officer of the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, an organization that works in 14 countries and seeks to create a world where no mother, child or family is devastated by HIV and AIDS. Earlier in his career, Carlos worked in management consulting and international banking.

Carlos just finished a 15-month role as interim chief operating officer for the League of Conservation Voters, an environmental and social justice group. Prior to the League, Carlos was the interim chief executive officer at Pact Global, a $230 million international development organization working in nearly 40 countries to improve the lives of those who are challenged by poverty and marginalization.

Carlos earned his undergraduate degree at Bentley University and his MBA at American University. He also received a Masters of Public Health degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine. Carlos teaches two courses on Leadership and Management in Global Health at Georgetown University and was recently awarded an honorary doctorate degree by American University. Carlos currently serves on the boards of directors for International Planned Parenthood Federation/WHR and the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.

Although Carlos’ parents are from Cuba, he grew up in Puerto Rico and identifies as Puerto Rican. He and his husband, Tom, are the proud parents of two anxious ‘pandemic-rescue’ hounds, Frieda and Bruno.
