The staff in the Data Science Institute support the University's students and scholars, their shared ideals, and the core values that make the University a singular intellectual destination. Job Summary The Program Administrator for Community-Centered Data Science (CCDS) is responsible for program development, coordination of initiatives, and executing student engagement activities in support of our community-centered data science mission. This work includes Data4All High School Program, The 11th Hour Project Software and Data Hub, Data Science for Social Impact (DSSI) Summer Program, Data Science Corps Program, and more. In collaboration with the DSI leadership team, this role will develop and execute outreach strategies to partner with programs and units within the University of Chicago, external partners, academic institutions, and civic and social impact organizations. This at-will position is wholly funded by contractual grant funding, which is renewed under provisions set by the grantor of the contract. Employment will be contingent upon the continued receipt of these grant funds and satisfactory job performance. Responsibilities Develops budgets for programs and works with PIs, staff, faculty, and financial admin to ensure compliance with grant reporting requirements that includes progress reports and final reports; utilizes information included in progress and final reports to create content highlighting the program impact and translation of results. Assists in the pursuit of grants and foundation proposals. Supports proposals by working closely with DSI leadership and faculty when appropriate. Implements protocols for evaluating the effectiveness of CCDS programs. Manages the daily operations of high school and undergraduate programs throughout the academic year and summer. Leads admissions, recruiting, and enrollment of CCDS programs and activities. Manages hiring and oversight of student staff for CCDS programs. Implements protocols for evaluating the effectiveness of student research programs. Serves as a primary point of contact for academic partners, students, alumni, and faculty mentors as relevant to CCDS programs. Provides Senior Associate Director of CCDS and DSI leadership team with budget updates as needed. Drafts and publishes communications content through authorized channels, such as website and email, to ensure content is up-to-date and accessible to key stakeholders. Assists in purchasing, reimbursement and monitoring expenses for CCDS programs and initiatives. Assists in event planning and execution, including creation of workflows and other necessary tracking documents to ensure details are appropriately managed and timelines are attended to. Work with DSI team and leadership to identify new partnership opportunities to elevate and expand existing work to reach a broader, or higher impact, audience. Assists DSI leadership team with other administrative and operational projects and other related work as needed. Sets and communicates program priorities and performance standards and assesses operations using these criteria. Plans and conducts quality assurance reviews and recommends changes as appropriate. Analyzes program budgets and recommends or makes budgetary recommendations. Performs other related work as needed. Minimum Qualifications Education: Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field. Work Experience: Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
