The University System of Maryland Foundation company history timeline

1994

He donated $15 million in 1994 to create an endowment fund to support the engineering college, which subsequently was named the A. James Clark School of Engineering.

2000

The University of Maryland College Park Foundation was established in 2000 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation organized to receive, hold, invest and manage assets given in support of the University of Maryland, College Park.

2014

The next highest donation was $31 million from Brendan Iribe, CEO of Oculus VR, in 2014.

2015

Clark, a Maryland engineering alum who built his Bethesda-based Clark Construction Group into one of the nation's real estate powerhouses, passed away in March 2015.

After making his fortune as the leader of a Bethesda-based construction company, Clark consistently gave back to his alma mater before his death in 2015.

2019

The USM Foundation celebrated our 40th year in 2019.
