    Oncology Nurse (ICU) The UNMCC is currently recruiting for an Oncology RN in our Infusion Suite to provide professional nursing care and coordinate the delivery of oncology treatments (includes chemotherapy administration and blood products), often in intensive care conditions, to assigned patients in a medical oncology facility, ensuring adherence to hospital or department and University policies, and nursing procedures, standards, and practices. Must obtain a chemotherapy/biotherapy certification from ONS within 6 months of hire and maintain certification during employment. The University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center is the Official Cancer Center of New Mexico and the only National Cancer Institute-designated Cancer Center in a 500-mile radius. Its 136 board-certified oncology specialty physicians include cancer surgeons in every specialty (abdominal, thoracic, bone and soft tissue, neurosurgery, genitourinary, gynecology, and head and neck cancers), adult and pediatric hematologists/medical oncologists, gynecologic oncologists, and radiation oncologists. They, along with more than 600 other cancer healthcare professionals (nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists, navigators, psychologists and social workers), provide treatment to 65% of New Mexico's cancer patients from all across the state. And they partner with community health systems statewide to provide cancer care closer to home. In 2024 they treated more than 15,000 patients in almost 105,000 ambulatory clinic visits in addition to in-patient hospitalizations at UNM Hospital. A total of 2,075 patients participated in cancer clinical trials to study new cancer treatments that include tests of novel cancer prevention strategies and cancer genome sequencing. The more than 123 cancer research scientists affiliated with the UNM Cancer Center were awarded $38.3 million in federal and private grants and contracts for cancer research projects. Since 2015, the physicians, scientists and staff have provided education and training experiences to more than 750 high school, undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral fellowship students in cancer research and cancer health care delivery. General Summary: The Clinical Manager maintains the quality of client care in accordance with the Agency's objectives and policies, through planning, coordination, and implementation and evaluation of the home health services provided. This position also directs and manages the field staff of the Agency while coordinating care with the interdisciplinary team, patient/family and referring Agency. Patient Population: All patients assigned to the provider numbers in the employee's area of responsibility. Essential Functions: Promote /exemplify Company mission, vision and values at all times. Coordinate and schedule the daily work load of the office while utilizing Agency personnel to their fullest capacity. Provide daily supervision of field nurses and Home Health Aides to ensure the quality of services and maintenance of standards. Review and investigate the clinical content, diagnoses, medical history, medications, fee status and other procedures from the records of clients. Direct staff toward the appropriate use of community resources. Appraise staff performance during their probationary period and annually with the Director of Clinical Services, provides the teaching and counseling necessary to enhance the delivery of services and the professional development of nursing and health aide staff. Identify and evaluate client needs and appropriateness of home care by reviewing the initial intake screening form before assignment of direct care staff. Participate in community related functions as necessary. Assist with the orientation of new professional staff to familiarize them with Agency policies and procedures. Take client visits in the home setting as needed. Participate in audits, U.R. interdisciplinary team conferences and represents Agency in the community as requested. Review each clinician's schedule for recertification, discharges, and aide supervisory visits. Review weekly schedule submitted by clinician for changes or updates. Perform other duties as directed by Area DOCS/ DOCS. May be requested by Area DOCS/ DOCS to backup other clinical staff when necessary. The ability to access clients' homes which may not be routinely wheelchair accessible is required. Clinical Quality Monitoring Identifies quality-of-care concerns including pain delays, symptom escalation, and safety events. • Completes root cause analyses (RCAs) and leads follow-up actions. • Monitors triage response times and clinical interventions. Documentation Audit & Review Performs monthly documentation audits for CTIs, recerts, orders, visit frequency, and interdisciplinary notes. • Ensures survey readiness for state, federal, and accreditation bodies. Education, Coaching & Staff Development Provides targeted coaching and documentation training based on QAPIplus findings. • Supports onboarding with QAPI and compliance standards. • Works with educators and PCMs to standardize best practices. Data Reporting & Analytics Generates monthly QAPI reports with compliance scoring and trend analysis. • Produces branch performance scorecards and dashboards. • Prepares governing body and executive summaries. Interdisciplinary Collaboration Collaborates with PCMs, medical directors, triage nurses, and leadership. • Participates in IDT meetings to address documentation or quality issues. Policy, Procedure & Process Improvement Updates and reinforces quality-related policies. • Supports standardization across all branches and disciplines. Requirements Qualifications Active RN license in good standing. Minimum 2-3 years hospice experience required. Strong working knowledge of CMS Hospice CoPs. Experience with QAPI, compliance, or quality preferred. Proficient in QAPIplus, Consolo, WellSky, or similar platforms.
