Clinical Therapy Specialist The University of New Mexico Student Health & Counseling clinic (SHAC) is recruiting for a knowledgeable and experienced Occupational Therapist (Part Time - 20 Hours) to provide professional OT services to a diverse university student body in our General Medicine clinic. This position provides direct patient care and/or rehabilitative and developmental therapy to individuals with physical disabilities and/or functional limitations in clinic, inpatient, outpatient, and outreach programs. Plans therapy programs, directs and assists patients in exercises and use of wheelchairs and other devices, and evaluates patient progress.
The Student Health & Counseling Center is located at the center of campus. The clinic provides comprehensive primary and mental health services and has a laboratory, x-ray, pharmacy, physical therapy, acupuncture, case management, and health promotions on site. Other medical services provided are same day appointments, travel medicine, immunizations, and sports medicine.

Seeking PhysicalTherapists to be Clinical Adjunct Faculty for Brenau University's DPT Program
Brenau University's Physical Therapy program is currently recruiting physicaltherapists to be a part of our clinical adjunct faculty and to serve as supervisors in an innovative and successful program at North Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) - the Early Mobility Initiative. Our PT clinical adjunct faculty will serve as on-site educators who will teach, counsel and serve as role models to the Brenau physical therapy students.
The Early Mobility Initiative is designed to begin early and frequent mobilization of hospitalized patients at NGMC. DPT students will be trained as rehab technicians and to work on a 4-member mobility team supervised by a physicaltherapist. Working in close conjunction with a nursing supervisor, each team will spend four hours Monday-Thursday afternoons mobilizing identified patients on 4 specified floors of the hospital. PT Clinical Adjunct Faculty will be given 3 teams to manage totaling 12 hours weekly of supervising students.
The main responsibilities of the Clinical Adjunct Faculty will be to:
1) Coordinate with the nursing supervisor regarding the mobility assignments for the day;
2) Coordinate and directly supervise a team of four DPT students in the mobility assignments;
3) Supervise and instruct the student members of each team in basic clinical skills including but limited to: patient and personal safety, monitoring vital signs, recognizing signs of distress or intolerance to activity, using effective interpersonal and communication skills, professionalism, transfers, and ambulation;
4) Provide students immediate feedback on the floors, and formal evaluations at the semester midterm and final;
5) Handle minor conflicts or issues that may arise on the floor;
6) Communicate regularly with Brenau DPT Clinical Coordinator and/or lead professor regarding needs, issues, and performance;
7) Notify Brenau DPT Lead Professor immediately when unsatisfactory performance or behavior of the student is in question
Qualifications:
A clinical BS, MS, DPT degree or a terminal academic doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DHS)
Georgia physical therapy licensure
Experience as a successful academic and/or clinical instructor
Ability to function well within a collegial, collaborative work environment
Two years of experience
Environmental and Working Conditions:
Normal environment found in a hospital setting. Some exposure to outdoors and varying weather conditions may be required.

Responsibilities:
The role of the PhysicalTherapist is to evaluate, design, and implement a patient's plan of care. Each Plan of Care is created to increase, maintain, or restore function, minimize or prevent disability, and assist patients in reaching their maximum performance levels.
Qualifications:
A Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree or equivalent from an accredited program is required. Some directly related experience is preferred. Candidates must also have certification and licensure, or be eligible to obtain certification and licensure, as a PhysicalTherapist in the state of Georgia. Current BLS certification is required, or must be obtained within 3 months of employment.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
