The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology is seeking a full-time Social Work Case Manager to support medically complex pediatric and adult patients with cancer and bleeding disorders, as well as their families, across inpatient, outpatient, and specialty clinic settings. This position plays a critical role within the interdisciplinary care team by coordinating psychosocial resources, addressing barriers to care, and supporting continuity throughout diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, and chronic disease management. The Social Work Case Manager is responsible for facilitating patient and family access to a broad range of local, state, and national resources, including lodging, transportation, meals, financial assistance, and other essential services that support access to care. The role requires close collaboration with social workers, counselors, nurses, providers, and administrative staff to assess needs, coordinate services, and maintain ongoing communication across inpatient and outpatient settings. Strong knowledge of New Mexico Medicaid regulations, prior authorizations, and insurance navigation is essential, including support for out-of-state referrals for specialized services such as bone marrow transplantation. This position also supports the Ted R. Montoya Hemophilia Program and Treatment Center, a federally recognized comprehensive care program serving children and adults with bleeding disorders. Case management for this population requires coordination with Medicaid programs, specialty pharmacies, and national pharmaceutical patient-support programs to ensure continuity of treatment, access to medications, and comprehensive psychosocial support.     Oncology Nurse (ICU) The UNMCC is currently recruiting for a Clinic Oncology RN. The candidate will provide direct patient care to Oncology patients and be responsible for nursing assessments via in person and telephone triage, coordinate the delivery of oncology treatments, often in intensive care conditions, to assigned patients in a medical oncology facility, ensuring adherence to hospital or department and University policies, and nursing procedures, standards, and practices The University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center is the Official Cancer Center of New Mexico and the only National Cancer Institute-designated Cancer Center in a 500-mile radius. Its 136 board-certified oncology specialty physicians include cancer surgeons in every specialty (abdominal, thoracic, bone and soft tissue, neurosurgery, genitourinary, gynecology, and head and neck cancers), adult and pediatric hematologists/medical oncologists, gynecologic oncologists, and radiation oncologists. They, along with more than 600 other cancer healthcare professionals (nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists, navigators, psychologists and social workers), provide treatment to 65% of New Mexico's cancer patients from all across the state. And they partner with community health systems statewide to provide cancer care closer to home. In 2024 they treated more than 15,000 patients in almost 105,000 ambulatory clinic visits in addition to in-patient hospitalizations at UNM Hospital. A total of 2,075 patients participated in cancer clinical trials to study new cancer treatments that include tests of novel cancer prevention strategies and cancer genome sequencing.
