Triage calls, medications/refills and facilitates patient needs, and documents all communication into the electronic medical records (EMR) system. Under direct supervision, responsible for providing general patient care for patients under the direction of a registered nurse, provider or other team leader. The Department of Family and Community Medicine is seeking a Medical Assistant to join the Advanced Primary Care Team at the Family Health Center, located at Robert B. Green to maximize Value-Based and Quality care for patients. The MA will work with other clinic MA's, LVN's, RN's, physicians, community health workers and other health care staff at clinical sites. LOCATION: Family Health Center at the Robert B. Green campus.

Under general supervision, responsible for providing phlebotomy services for the phlebotomy team. 1. Properly identifies patient according to policy, draws blood samples, labels specimens and sends to laboratory for analysis. 2. Maintains records of tests performed and samples taken. 3. Generates patient collection lists and labels, ensures the correct test are collected by using inquiry mode, verifying collection of all specimens, and labels STATS with stickers. 4. Checks collection batches and overdue lists frequently and ensures that all orders are promptly collected. 5. Performs special tests to include clotting time, bleeding time and glucose tolerance tests as needed and reports results. 6. Inventories supplies, equipment and requisitions as needed. 7. Stocks workstation with necessary supplies. 8. Performs all other duties as assigned. Education: High school diploma or GED is required. Experience: One (1) year experience drawing blood specimens; or, any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved is required. Required Experience Clinical laboratory experience as a certified Medical Laboratory Scientist ( MLS )/Medical Licensed Technologist ( MLT ) - or Certification eligible new MLS graduate.
