Since 1891, The Village Family Service Center has helped area children and families improve their lives.
The Village traces its roots to the founding of the North Dakota Children’s Home in 1891, and 130 years later, proudly carries on this legacy of caring for children and families.
The Village Family Service Center started The Village Employee Assistance Program (EAP) in 1972.
Client demand for those services resulted in the creation of The Village Business Institute (VBI) in 1994.
In 1997, its co-founders, Hugo C. Villa, LMFT, and Irma Seilicovich, LMFT, recognized the lack of critical bilingual, bicultural social services for Latino children and families, particularly in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles County.
The Village Family Service Center and Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota partnered in 1999 to provide adoption-related services across the state.
In 2020, Lutheran Social Services of ND made the difficult decision to cease actively providing direct adoption services, ending the collaboration Dec.
