The Waldinger Corporation company history timeline

1906

Harry Waldinger, a 30-year-old Austrian tinsmith, founded our company as Capital City Tin Shop in 1906.

1928

The business continued as a small family operation, changing its name to Capital City Sheet Metal in 1928.

1935

When Harry Waldinger died in 1935 at age 59, the company had four employees, including his sons Mose and Joe Waldinger.

1938

When scientists began tracking the health of 268 Harvard sophomores in 1938 during the Great Depression, they hoped the longitudinal study would reveal clues to leading healthy and happy lives.

1959

In 1959, the company moved its operations to Bell Avenue in Des Moines, and two years later, expanded its capabilities by adding a piping division.

2015

He recorded his TED talk, titled “What Makes a Good Life? Lessons from the Longest Study on Happiness,” in 2015, and it has been viewed 13,000,000 times.
