About the Role: The Behavioral Health Technician plays a critical role in supporting individuals with mental health and emotional challenges by providing direct care and assistance under the supervision of clinical staff. This position focuses on, conducting clinical assessments, and ensuring the safety and well-being of patients in various care settings. The technician will actively participate in crisis intervention and management, helping to de-escalate situations and provide immediate support to patients experiencing emotional distress. Additionally, the role involves maintaining accurate clinical documentation and assisting with discharge planning to ensure continuity of care. Ultimately, the Behavioral Health Technician contributes to improving patient outcomes by fostering a therapeutic environment and supporting the multidisciplinary team in delivering comprehensive behavioral health services. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in a related field preferred. Certification or training in behavioral health, mental health, or related area is required. Experience working with individuals with mental health disorders, including crisis intervention and patient care. Ability to maintain clinical documentation accurately and comply with healthcare regulations. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and multidisciplinary teams. Valid driver's license and good driving record required. If recovering, two (2) years of continuous verifiable sobriety. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, nursing, or a related behavioral health field. Previous experience in a healthcare or residential treatment setting. Training or certification in CPR, First Aid, or Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI). Monitor and sometimes facilitate the Book Studies and Recovery meetings. Assure that all patients follow the Bradford Program Schedule and are on time for each assignment. Supervise and sometimes facilitate patient activities as directed. Assure the patients are in their rooms at the designated time in the evening. Oversee med line to prevent diversion and to de-escalate situations as they arise. Assist patients to and from activities, medication times, and meals when unable to physically walk. Assist the counselor as assigned and engage in appropriate documentation. Responsible for the adherence to all applicable policies and procedures. Demonstrates the ability to assist patients in overcoming their denial and resistance to treatment and completion of treatment goals. Demonstrated the ability to manage communities, redirect behavior, and document shift reports. Attend staff training and programs as directed. Assist nurses as directed by supervisor. Drive patients to and from appointments, to include patient outings, as directed. Drive to purchase patient sundries and miscellaneous items; including nicotine products as directed. Must maintain a professional demeanor and appearance, must not appear impaired or disoriented, but rather must present coherent and articulate speech, kept appearance, alert, oriented, and responsive to patients' needs and concerns. Regularly completes documentation of staff notes, incident reports, injury reports, shift observations, and other reports in a timely and accurate manner. May be required to lift approximately 50 lbs. and push/pull or transport client and equipment. Ensure clients comply with rules, maintain a clean and safe environment including the performance of housekeeping, assist clients where necessary. Demonstrates and practices good safety skills, including fire drills, emergency procedures, and back safety techniques. Promotes a positive work environment, including positive relationships with supervisors, clients, and their families and/or co-workers. Administration of medication was supervised and documented. Attends staff meetings, in-service meetings, and trainings as required and remains current on all training/certifications.
