General Description
The Behavioral Health Technician (Recovery Support Specialist) plays a key role in supporting clients throughout their treatment experience by providing structure, safety, engagement, and encouragement in alignment with evidence-based recovery practices. This position assists with daily living support, group facilitation, admissions processes, crisis response, documentation, and client transportation. The Behavioral Health Technician works as part of an interdisciplinary team to promote a therapeutic environment and positive client outcomes.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Provide a comprehensive orientation to new clients, including program rules, expectations, schedules, and facility tour.
Assist with admissions tasks including belongings searches, completion of required documentation, obtaining client photographs, and reviewing client consents.
Support clients in daily living activities and reinforce treatment goals throughout the day.
Monitor client behavior, maintain observations, and document accurate progress notes.
Lead or support educational, recreational, and life-skills groups as assigned.
Administer urine drug screens, breathalyzers, and collect basic vital signs in accordance with facility protocol.
Respond to behavioral issues using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques; notify leadership of safety concerns.
Complete incident reports in a timely and accurate manner.
Transport clients to approved appointments, meetings, and community activities while maintaining safety and professionalism.
Support housekeeping tasks, meal service routines, and general facility upkeep to ensure a clean and therapeutic environment.
Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating professionalism, appropriate boundaries, and consistent communication.
Maintain confidentiality in alignment with HIPAA and all organizational policies.
Participate in team meetings and collaborate with medical, clinical, and leadership staff regarding client needs.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Recovery Supervisor or leadership team.
Qualifications
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid drivers license.
Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and ability to maintain firm boundaries.
Ability to remain calm in crisis situations and respond to behavioral or medical concerns appropriately.
Preferred:
Certified Peer Recovery Coach (CPRC) or Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS).
One (1) year of experience in behavioral health, residential treatment, or healthcare.
Experience supporting individuals with substance use or co-occurring disorders.
Familiarity with 12-Step programs or recovery-oriented systems of care.

Behavior Technician will complete a training program set by the clinical team to prepare the employee to become a Registered Behavior Technician. Once this exam is passed you will have the responsibilities listed below:
· Directly implementing skill acquisition and behavior intervention plans written by a supervising BCBA
· Collecting accurate data for all treatment plans and behavior programs, which is then provided to the BCBA for analysis
· Serves in a direct care role, consulting the BCBA regularly for additional support, training, and supervision
· Adjusts interventions and/or intervention methods as instructed by the supervising BCBA when necessary
· Responsible for maintaining thorough knowledge and understanding of each intervention and plan in place for each client on his/her caseload and those on the assigned team
· Maintains RBT credentials by completing the RBT Competency Assessment annually as per BACB guidelines
· Must receive and accurately track RBT supervision hours to maintain internal and external compliance.
· The annual renewal of the RBT Competency Assessment and Annual Renewal form must be submitted and accepted by the BACB. Continuous adherence to the BACB Ethical Standards for RBT is required.

St. Luke's Cardiothoracic Surgery Treatments
Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG), commonly referred to as open heart or bypass surgery, treats coronary artery disease. Surgeons perform CABG using arteries or veins from other areas in your body to bypass narrowed heart arteries and restore blood flow to the heart.
Aortic Aneurysm Repair: An aortic aneurysm is a bulge in a section of the aorta, the body's main artery. Because the section with the aneurysm is weak, it can burst. Treatment depends on the location of the aneurysm and the patient's overall health. An aneurysm in the upper chest (ascending aorta) is closely monitored and surgically repaired if it reaches a specific size.
Heart Valve Repair and Replacement may be required for patients with heart valve disease, which can affect any of the heart's valves. St. Luke's cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons monitor this condition for specific parameters and will recommend surgery at the appropriate time.
Lung Cancer Care
St. Luke's cardiothoracic surgery team also has expertise in surgical oncology (cancer surgery). They work together with oncologists at the Helen G. Nassif Community Cancer Center and St. Luke's Nassif Radiation Center to provide comprehensive treatment for those facing lung cancer. Treatment for lung cancer often involves a combination of surgery, radiation and chemotherapy, depending on each patient's situation.

Job Overview:

Key Requirements:
