A Brief Overview:
Under supervision of a Registered Nurse and according to established procedures, provides direct patient care to patients with behavioral health disorders. Ensures the safety and well-being of these patients by maintaining a safe milieu. Participates in treatment planning and implementation. Documents according to department/organization procedures.
What you will do:
Hygiene/Personal Needs
Delivers, sets up and removes meal trays. Assists patients with nutritional intake according to individual needs; accurately documents dietary intake and notifies appropriate team member for follow-up as indicated.
Provides assistance with activities of daily living, appropriate to patients? age, needs and developmental level as assigned and supervised by nurse in charge. May need to provide physical care such as assisting with the bathing and toileting of geriatric patients and other patients with special needs.
Procedures and Treatments
Carries out plan of care in accordance with and giving consideration to patient?s age specific needs.
Complies with hospital infection control standards and techniques.
Assists with specimen collection, vitals, EKG (if trained), as delegated by charge nurse.
Admission/Discharge/Transfer
Provides patient/family orientation to room and hospital according to hospital policy.
Transports/escorts patients to other areas of the hospital as needed.
Completes appropriate portions of admission documentation.
Assures competency with hospital infection control standards and techniques and demonstrates compliance in daily practice.
Unit Support Activities
Performs Unit Specialist job duties as assigned.
Ensures patient safety by providing one-to-one supervision. Unit rounds are conducted and precautions records completed in real time. Precautions records are accurately labeled.
Maintains a therapeutic milieu by connecting with patients and redirecting behavior as needed.
Team Support
Communicates with RN regularly throughout the shift on patient status.
Reports changes in patient status or safety to appropriate nursing personnel as they occur.
May transport (in a company-owned vehicle) and/or accompany patients as assigned by charge nurse.
Education and/or Experience Required:
A High School Diploma or GED
Ability to demonstrate de-escalation and behavior management techniques
A valid driver?s license is required if the incumbent is selected to perform related duties at an off-site location. If the incumbent uses their personal vehicle, the incumbent must maintain automobile liability coverage as required by law and evidence of such coverage may be requested.
Experience Preferred:
College level course in psychology or related field
A minimum of one year of prior experience in a hospital or customer service environment
A minimum of six months of experience in psychiatric setting
Required License and/or Certification:
Current CPR Certification issued by either American Heart Association or Red Cross
CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification within 90 days of hire

The Case Therapist II reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
Responsibilities:
* Complete Integrated Assessments and Treatment Plans in alignment with Medicaid and rule 2060 requirements
* Make appropriate clinical recommendations for clients with mental health and addictions needs based on presenting symptoms.
* Assess and evaluate client needs, strengths, goals, and resources.
* Intervene, stabilize, and manage acute crisis situations.
* Work with an interdisciplinary team in reviewing cases and developing individual plans.

Job Description
Under the direction of the Charge Nurse, Clinical Managers/Manager of Clinical Services or Unit Director, functions as a leader of milieu activities and supporter of clinical operations within the treatment team. Knowledgeable and competent in identifying and intervening in patient crises. Provides consistent reports of patient progress to parent(s)/guardian and treatment team. Understands and integrates into the delivery of patient care the needs of pediatric and adolescent patients in regard to their growth and development process. The position actively supports the Hospital's and the Department's quality goals and service excellence principles.
1. Clinician
- Provides direct patient care in a therapeutic environment focusing on areas of behavior modification, improved social skills, more effective coping skills, etc.
- Completes duties assigned by Charge Nurse, Clinical Managers/ Manager of Clinical Services and/or Unit Director.
- Leads and co-leads milieu activities per program.
- Actively sets and communicates age/developmentally appropriate individual goals, expectations and behavioral limits within the parameters of the program.
- Implements plans of care and individual behavior programs initiated by team.
- Assists in group therapy, recreational therapy, classroom and other activities as assigned.
- Maintains safety in the milieu, utilizing prevention and de-escalation CCM techniques.
- Independently performs unit specific procedures, protocols and precautions.
- Intervenes in anticipated emergency situations and knows emergency protocols.
- Communicates changes in health or behavior to appropriate staff (nurse, primary therapist, physician, etc.).
- Documents patient status and progress in patient's Medical Record as per program guidelines.
2. Team Membership
- Supports clinical operations and decisions related to treatment plans.
- Responds to environmental concerns (maintenance/cleanliness) of the area.
- Participates in staff meetings as scheduled.
- Adheres to scheduling requirements.
3. Professional Development.
- Maintains mandatory yearly reviews.
- Appropriately seeks out supervision to function in professional role.
- Assumes responsibility for professional development through participation in continuing educational events, conferences, group supervision and in-services, etc.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Bachelor's degree required in psychology, nursing, social services or other related fields. Minimum of one year of direct experience in a mental health setting, paid or unpaid, preferred.
2. Must have strong knowledge of basic child care and development, mental disorders affecting children, signs of physical abuse/neglect, appropriate adult conduct towards normal and disturbed children, etc.
3. Special physical requirements: sits and stands throughout the day. Physical management of patients in crisis situation may be necessary.

COLLABORATES WITH: Collaborates with Wellness Network Therapists and Case Manager and SVSS Clinical and Case Management staff members and SVSS program staff members across all locations; Community Partners (e.g. Colleges & Universities); Interns; Volunteers; and other YWCA staff members.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct Service: Provide individual, family and group short-term and long-term counseling/therapy. Facilitate group services and workshops for members. Deliver telephone and in-person crisis intervention, information, and referrals as needed. Monitor member intake and caseload, conducting individual and group intake screening when appropriate. Furnish advocacy referrals for members to legal, medical, & social services systems as needed.
Member Data Management: Maintain comprehensive member records as required. Maintain all data entry and statistical records for multiple funding sources regarding counseling services performed. Maintain member confidentiality as required by law and funding sources.
Professional Development & Clinical Knowledge: Attend and collaborate with other Therapists in Clinical team meetings and regularly participate in group consultations. Participate in regular reflective supervision meetings as required. Complete twelve hours per year of continuing education in providing counseling services, with at least six of those hours addressing the specific member populations served. Complete other continuing education and training set by agency/funders.
Community Engagement: Establish and sustain community contacts to develop and advance the Wellness Network public presence and referral base. Participate and provide leadership in appropriate local, state and national sexual assault, mental health and human services coalitions. Consult with outside community members and groups to help design and implement new services, or support access for underserved populations, as needed. Assist with planning and implementing special programs e.g. Sexual Assault Awareness Month, "Take Back the Night March."
NON-ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Participate in training and for agencies and coalitions providing related services. Assist with planning special programs and events.
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED: Other duties outside of the responsibilities of the position may be assigned, whether for a project, special needs task or other assignments, including planning and supporting Mental Health Awareness Month Activities, Take Back the Night, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree- MA, MSW, etc. from an accredited college or university. LCPC or LCSW licensure preferred but not required. Fluency in both English and Spanish, preferred but not required. Minimum of one year of counseling experience required. Previous experience in working with trauma populations, specifically community violence traumatized individuals. Familiarity with reflective supervision. Availability
to work evenings. Ability to work collaboratively or independently, depending on the situations. Sound decision-making skills in emergency situations.
