ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Apply psychotherapeutic techniques and interventions in the delivery of services to individuals and families for the purpose of treating such diagnosed emotional and mental disorders.
Conduct individual, group or family therapy as appropriate for the treatment plan of the patient.
Conduct a psychosocial assessment and develop an initial discharge plan.

Provide case management, discharge planning or after-care planning according to treatment plan.
May assist in educating and training staff on behavior management or therapeutic crisis intervention.
May coordinate various clinical, psychosocial or educational activities with patient and their families.
Evaluate patient's need and determine if referrals to other programs or facilities are needed.
May assist in the training of new clinical staff and interns.
Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards customers always. When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints. Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.

Summary:

Recognizes and utilizes community and family resources to assist the client in long-term plans for life in the community or to learn to live with the patient's disability.
Documents individualized multidisciplinary progress notes and group progress notes with accuracy, timeliness and according to policies.
Submits accurate documentation within mandated time frame.
Keeps abreast of mental health and therapy trends and knowledge. Participates in in-service programs.
Cooperates with appropriate staff to provide staff education when requested and arranged by either Corporate Staff Educator and/or facility Leadership.
Serves as a liaison in the community as needed.
Advocates for patient rights (confidentiality, ethical issues, complaints, participates and is advised of the care).
Maintain awareness for indicators in client's behavior (either positive or negative), communicate any changes to the other multidisciplinary treatment team members as to document these issues in the Master Treatment Plan.
Facilitates psycho-education groups as needed. Assures timely and accurate documentation of all groups facilitated.
Strictly adheres to the code of ethics as defined by State licensure codes of ethics.
Maintains universal precautions while administering care to clients and is knowledgeable of policies, procedures, and protocol regarding infection control.
Follows all facilities policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
Must be licensed by the State of Louisiana holding an LMSW, LCSW, or PLPC, LPC.
1 year of group therapy experience in a behavioral health setting preferred.
Certification in non-violent crisis intervention.
Physical Demands:
This job requires employees to have a full range of physical capabilities, including the ability to handle and lift patients, demonstrate manual and finger dexterity, and maintain good eye-hand coordination. Employees must be able to stand and walk for extended periods and occasionally lift and carry items up to 40 lbs. Corrected vision and hearing within the normal range are also required. About the Role:
The Counseling Center Psychologist is part of the Tulane University Campus Health team of committed professionals dedicated to supporting and promoting student health and wellbeing as a core institutional value through a multidisciplinary, comprehensive approach. This Psychologist position resides within the Counseling Center, and reports to a therapist team leader. The individual in this position is responsible for delivering clinical services and participating in community engagement activities.
As a member of the Counseling Center, the Psychologist provides student mental health services, including urgent walk-in assessments, consultations, individual psychotherapy, group therapy and workshops. The Psychologist also participates in designing and delivering outreach programs to students, as well as developing materials and presentations on topics pertinent to various University constituencies. The Psychologist will be responsible for a specified area of coordination or advocacy or serve as a liaison to departments or groups on campus as assigned by the Director. Activities such as data collection and analysis, as well as program coordination, may also be pursued at times. The Psychologist participates regularly in Campus Health, therapist team, and Counseling Center staff meetings and trainings.

Qualifications:
Required:
Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA accredited program and completion of an APA approved internship by the date of hire.

Outstanding oral and written communication skills, able to dialogue effectively with a wide range of students, faculty, and staff
Preferred:
