About the Role
BNI Treatment Centers is seeking a dedicated Clinical Counselor to join our team. In this role, you will collaborate with our clinical staff to support the treatment and growth of adolescents in our care. You will play a key role in supervising clients, facilitating clinical activities, and helping shape a constructive therapeutic community.
Responsibilities
Provide direct care and supervision to clients while maintaining the structure of the facility.
Conduct one-to-one counseling sessions and support clients with individual challenges.
Monitor, record, and communicate client progress; identify when additional services may be needed.
Facilitate therapeutic groups, workshops, social/recreational activities, and outings.
Utilize appropriate interventions, including de-escalation and crisis response strategies.
Establish positive and professional relationships with adolescents while maintaining healthy boundaries.
Prepare clinical documentation and communicate findings with the clinical team in a timely manner.
Support clients in self-administering medication in accordance with policies.
Participate in weekly team meetings, monthly drills, and ongoing staff development.
Ensure safety, cleanliness, and adherence to facility policies, including house runs and overnight checks when scheduled.
Provide transportation for approved clients in company vehicles.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or higher education required.
Counselor Certification preferred but not required.
Experience working with high-risk adolescents and families strongly preferred.
Strong communication, documentation, and decision-making skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Valid California driver's license required.
Must meet federal, state, and local background clearance requirements.
If in recovery, at least one year of sobriety/clean time is required.
Knowledge & Abilities
Understanding of clinical documentation standards and treatment planning.
Familiarity with adolescent development, therapeutic communities, relapse prevention, and recovery models.
Ability to coordinate activities, model positive behavior, and maintain professionalism at all times.

Summary:
The FSP Senior Clinician is responsible to engage members and to coordinate mental and recovery services that will ensure housing stability and community integration. The FSP Senior Clinician is responsible for maintaining the highest quality provision of direct individual and case management services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide, coordinate, and implement mental health and recovery support services with individual members.
Develop effective, trusting relationships with clients experiencing trimorbid disorders, as well as the forensic population, with a focus on facilitating independence and maintenance of improved physical and mental health.
Collaborate with each member to develop their individual service plan; review and update it upon completion of goals.
Provide linkage to stable housing, and other supportive services as needed to assist clients to obtain housing stability, in addition to client advocacy, case management, and benefit establishment.
Conduct screening interviews, complete housing documentation, and coordinate clients' move-in with the housing authority, property managers.
Perform initial comprehensive case management assessment and develop a plan of intervention that addresses their barriers, increases their income, and assists them in maintaining permanent housing.
Encourage and promote an environment that is strength based to assist clients in meeting their individual goals.
Identify appropriate permanent housing options for clients, such as, subsidized housing Section 8, Shelter Plus Care, VASH, permanent supportive housing, affordable and market rate housing, and other housing opportunities.
Work cooperatively and cohesively with other members of the FSP team, including participation in weekly staff meetings, group clinical supervision, and trainings.
Develop and maintain a complete, accurate, and current member file with all funder-required documents.

Become LPS Designated with the Department of Mental Health for Los Angeles County.
Respond to crises, assess, and initiate 5150 Applications as needed.
Scheduled to be on rotation as LPS Designated staff for monthly Mental Health Department After Hours Calenda
Qualifications:
Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field of study from an accredited university.
Valid registration or licensure with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
Must have at least 1000 clinical hours accrued towards licensure.
Current, valid California Driver's with an acceptable driving record and reliable vehicle
Able to transport members in your personal vehicle

The Clinical Team Leader/Mental Health Therapist works collaboratively with a team consisting of Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselors and SUD Clinical Supervisors to provide valuable insight, direction, and oversight of Drug Medi-Cal (DMC) services. They also participate in a collaborative care process for clients, which includes providing individual and group therapy. Under the DMC model, they are qualified to establish medical necessity and approve SUD treatment plans. Additionally, they are responsible for providing safe, supportive, and confidential counseling; maintaining a culturally competent stance; and creating and maintaining a trauma informed program environment at all times. Conducting mental health and substance use disorder assessments and evaluations to identify behaviors and problems related to a client's substance use and potential co-occurring disorders. Acts as a liaison between the agency and outside organizations, linking clients with the appropriate resources to meet their physical and mental health needs, as well as their human service needs. They also facilitate psycho-education groups on a variety of core curriculum and collaborate with care management staff to assist clients in obtaining entitlement benefits, housing, and medical services in the community and participate in discharge planning. In addition, they provide crisis management and facilitate hospitalizations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinical Team Leader responsibilities: Schedules weekly team meetings and creates the agenda in coordination with the administrative assistant or other assigned individual, ensuring timely response to required compliance/documentation issues, ensuring completion of all action/follow-up items and overall clinical consultation. Facilitate timely access to mental health services on site and within the community. Act as a liaison between other programs and referring agencies. Serves as the point of contact and coordinates referrals and follow-ups with health agencies. Conduct mental health assessments and ensure follow up from each client and treatment counselor. Identify treatment needs, recommend treatment plans based on assessment, and works to ensure clients are able meet all requirements. Ensures client is assessed to appropriate level of care. Provides diagnostic feedback and assessment information to facilitate accurate level step up or step down services to support client's goals. Monitor client conduct, record client activity, and inform colleagues of potential challenges in treatment episodes. Handle crisis interventions and assess situations for further needs
Administration and compliance: Maintain and successfully retain assigned caseload of clients. Initiate and coordinate curriculum development and facilitate curriculum training as required. Documentation Responsibilities: Daily maintenance of monitoring of EMR report, to prevent and clear any compliance errors in records. Conducts assessments, develops treatment plans, completes release and consent forms, billing and reporting paperwork in hard copy and online in various electronic systems. In addition, completes assigned Drug Medi-Cal, Medicare and Medi-Cal documentation and billing.
