FUNCTION: Ensures operation of machinery by performing preventative maintenance and repair. Performs the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Completes preventative maintenance requirements and repairs for rolling stock including feed trucks, tractors, and other heavy equipment.

Removes defective parts by dismantling device; using hoists, and hand/power tools.
Complies with all applicable safety rules and policies.
Manages department parts and tool inventories by researching costs, designing inventory systems, determining inventory levels, anticipating needed supplies, and placing orders.
Manages expenses by studying historical data, anticipating needs, and researching costs.
Maintains shop appearance by disposing of trash, putting away supplies/tools, sweeping, etc...
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of vehicle mechanics and heavy equipment including diesel engines.
Basic knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software and Database software.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities:
Our Mechanics are responsible for repairing and refurbishing fusion equipment in a distribution plant by performing the following duties:
* Diagnose, maintain and repair fusion equipment including; small diesel/gas engines, generators, electrical circuits and hydraulic systems
* Perform quality inspections of rental fusion equipment prior to returning to service
* Maintain records of service, repairs and scheduled maintenance of rental fusion equipment
* Inspect and diagnose customer owned equipment to prepare repair quotes
* Communicate with maintenance coordinator and service advisors on status of down equipment and customer repairs
* Report machine defects, damages and malfunctions
* Repair and Service fabrication shop equipment as needed
* Prepare equipment for shipping
* Previous experience with computers for order entry, parts ordering and email is a plus
* Ability to utilize local vendors and/or vendor websites to locate required parts as needed
* Perform other related duties as assigned
Base Qualifications:
* 3+ years of experience in maintenance or automotive repair preferred

Key Responsibilities:

Strong knowledge of commercial vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, braking, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems of Altec and Terex buckets and digger derricks.
Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment efficiently.
Able to meet physical requirements. Actions include but are not limited to, standing, walking, bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, climbing ladders, cutting wire, lifting 70 pounds, and more.
Valid Class A or B CDL.
Must pass a DOT physical and drug test.
Adhere to company safety and health policies.
Some travel required.

This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
Work is performed in a garage or at job sites, often exposed to varying weather conditions.
Occasional on-site vehicle repairs may be required.
