Louis R. Desmarais was born on February 16, 1923 in Sudbury, Ontario, son of the late Jean-Noël Desmarais, Q.C. and Lébéa Laforest. He obtained his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Ottawa and Bachelor of Accounting degree from McGill University in 1945. Following which he articled in the firm of "Courtois Fredette" in Montreal and was admitted into the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Québec in 1948. Louis married Lucille Normand in 1949 and raised a family of six children together, while building a full and rewarding career in the private & public sectors, as outlined below. Now retired and living in the Montreal area, he enjoys long walks, reading and spending time with his family.
