Thetford company history timeline
In early 1963, Norcold was acquired by the Stolle Corp., an Alcoa company, and greatly expanded its refrigerator lines.
From humble beginnings in 1963 Thetford has grown to be a global market leader in mobile sanitation systems, toilet care, refrigeration, kitchen and cooking appliances for the recreational vehicle market.
To better supply customers in the Midwest and accommodate rapid growth, Norcold moved to its current Sidney, Ohio, location in 1964 and began producing refrigerators there exclusively.
Created the first water seal RV toilet, the Aqua-Magic III, as covered by Popular Science magazine issued in September 1975.
For example, when a competitor bought its primary cooling unit supplier in 1988, Norcold responded quickly and dynamically.
