Education and Visitor Programs Intern Purpose: Your role as an intern will be to serve as a guide within the Department of Education and Visitor Programs (EVP). You will be interpreting the history of Jefferson, Monticello, and those who lived and worked at Monticello to each of our visitors and serve as an informed, friendly ambassador for the Thomas Jefferson Foundation. The on-site internship available to undergraduate and graduate students, or recent graduates is 12 weeks in length, beginning on May 11, 2025 and concluding on July 31, 2025. You will be scheduled for 40 hours every week including Saturdays and Sundays, with two consecutive days off during the week. As an Intern for the Thomas Jefferson Foundation, Inc., we will look to you to:
Develop and conduct tours for visitors within established parameters and staff an outdoor family learning center. Tours of the site focus on the fundamental themes of innovation, freedom, self-governance, and slavery and its legacies.
Engage diverse audiences with the history of the founding of the United States, responding to different groups of guests (school children, families, adults, first-time guests, etc.) by varying tour content and technique.
On designated project days, collaborate with EVP program managers on special projects related to the field of museum education.
Provide a high level of customer service to ensure a seamless guest experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D). required; currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in public history or related field preferred.
Broad and thorough knowledge of American history; specific knowledge of the age of Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson, and Monticello (house and plantation) is essential.
Ability to model TJF's customer service standards and expectations.
Knowledge of the techniques of historic interpretation.
Excellent speaking skills, especially the ability of succinct expression.
Excellent interpersonal skills - must be able to make each visitor feel welcome.
Friendly attitude toward visitors and staff; strong team player.
Sustained intellectual curiosity in Jefferson, Monticello, and relevant history and culture
Physical Demands and Work Considerations
Monticello is located on a mountaintop; walking on inclines and uneven ground may be required.
Must be able to stand for periods of up to 120 minutes during tours and for up to one hour in Visitor Center assignments.
Must be able to work inside and outside in all weather conditions
Must be able to climb stairs several times a day
Must be able to speak at an acceptable volume for 7 half-hour tours per day.

The CDL seeks electrical engineering and computer science/engineering Co-op students (undergraduate and graduate) to work in our design teams to develop instrumentation technology for the next generation of radio telescope. Our technology is used on the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) telescope in Chile, the Jansky Very Large Array in New Mexico, and in observatories around the world to study exoplanet formation, black holes, stellar and galaxy formation and evolution, and to search for chemical precursors for life in the universe. The maximum length of a single co-op appointment is six months.
The Central Development Laboratory is located near the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
What You Will be Doing
The selected co-op student will, depending on skills and interest, work with experts on our digital design team, our millimeter/sub-millimeter radio receivers team, our ALMA front end support team, or our antennas and electromagnetics team.
Individual assignments will depend on knowledge, experience, and interest, and could include:
Digital circuit design, implementation and testing.
FPGA programming (Verilog) and testing.
RF circuit design, implementation and testing.
Antenna/RF design and analysis, and testing.
Signal processing algorithm development,
Software development and testing
Test and evaluation of millimeter-wave receivers, antennas, and passive electromagnetic structures.
Work Environment
Assignment will take place in an indoor lab setting with some outdoor work possible testing equipment. Must be able to work at a computer with detailed and complex textual and numerical information. Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Position works with a supervising School Psychologist and is responsible for the identification, place and follow-up of students referred for special and general education assessment at a specific school site. The School Psychologist Intern will also provide consultation to teachers; will provide counseling of special education and general education students under the supervision of the supervising School Psychologist. Essential Duties
1. Provides whole class mental health/social-emotional lessons.
2. Plan for and provides direct counseling services to special education and general education under the supervision of school psychologist.
3. Administer cognitive, adaptive, social-emotional, visual, motor, auditory and academic testing.
4. Observe and conduct alternative assessments. Completes and interprets assessment results in writing.
5. Participates in IEP and SST meetings, as needed.
6. Conducts initial and triennial evaluations, writes reports, and presents assessment results at IEP meetings.
7. Observe students in a variety of settings.
8. Consults with teachers, administrators, parents and community resources regarding students in special and general education.
9. Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required)
Must meet the requirements for candidacy for Pupil Personnel Service Credential in School Psychology from an accredited institution. Must receive a passing score on the CBEST and TB clearance. Must possess the ability to work cooperatively as an interdisciplinary team member. Must possess excellent communication and time management skills. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community agencies, students, families, team members, and others.

Education and Experience:
Master's Degree from an accredited college or university.
Currently possesses -OR- ability to possess a Virginia Collegiate Professional or Postgraduate Professional License with an endorsement, or provisional endorsement, as a Principal
Three (3) years of successful, full-time, teaching experience; two (2) in the level of education for which considered
Employment Terms: Employment may be offered as a 12-Month (243 Day) contract, at a minimum of 7.5 hours worked per day. This position is evaluated annually. Additional compensation awarded for credits earned toward advanced degrees.
