2005: The Thompson Hotel Group assumed control over The Hollywood Roosevelt from Gawn and Chang.
The Fairmont New Orleans was severely damaged in 2005 by Hurricane Katrina and was closed for more than four years.
The former Fairmont reopened under the Waldorf Astoria banner in 2009, following a $170- million renovation that updated everything down to the legacy.
2015: The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel became wholly independent once again.
Late in 2018 amidst rapid growth in the United States hospitality industry, Chicago-based Hyatt Hotels acquired Two Roads Hospitality, the group that oversees Alila, Destination Hotels, Joie de Vivre and Thompson hotels around the world.
And among the half-dozen properties on the docket, the Thompsons Savannah, Buckhead and Austin are all scheduled to open in 2021.
