Thurgood Marshall College Fund CEO and leadership

George F. Spencer is currently the Chief Development Officer for Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF). Since joining in 2010, Mr. Spencer has held several roles and currently oversees the business development function and revenue generation strategies for TMCF’s programs.

Prior to joining TMCF, Mr. Spencer served as Director of Community Partnerships for RushmoreDrive.com, IAC’s newly launched programming business unit serving the online needs of this country’s Black community. Prior to RushmoreDrive.com, Mr. Spencer served as Senior Software Configuration Manager for IAC’s real estate and mortgage subsidiary, LendingTree.com. Before joining LendingTree.com, Mr. Spencer spent 8 years with Bank of America as a lead systems engineer specializing in developing strategic release management processes and practices for government and commercial clients.

George serves on the boards of the Executive Council of New York University’s Metropolitan Center for Urban Education and The Center of the Future Academy. George graduated with a BS in Computer Science from Norfolk State University and earned an MBA from the McColl School of Business at Queens University of Charlotte. He is also Certified in International Business Management from Georgetown University. George resides in Charlotte, NC with his wife Dr. Shawanda L. Spencer, and daughter Harper.

Aisha Brown is the Chief Financial Officer at the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. She oversees both operational and programmatic support of the organization and leads all aspects of the organization’s finances, including the development and management of budgets, preparation of financial statements and reporting to Thurgood Marshall College Fund’s board. Aisha brings with her nearly two decades of financial management experience in the private and nonprofit sectors, with a focus on developing policies and procedures to improve performance and productivity.

Before joining the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, Aisha worked at the International Labor Rights Forum, a nonprofit that supports international labor rights, where she was the Director of Finance & Administration for nearly five years. As Director of Finance & Administration and member of the Executive Management Team, Aisha was responsible for all areas related to finance and accounting, human resources, administration, and information technology infrastructure. Aisha worked closely with the Board of Directors; she was also the lead staff member on audit and compliance issues.

Prior to ILRF, Aisha was a financial management advisor for several nonprofit organizations, including the National Japanese American Memorial Foundation and the Flavor and Extracts Manufacturers Association. As financial management advisor of NJAMF and FEMA, she defined their strategic directions, prepared new business plans, streamlined financial and procedural policies and created monitoring and accountability systems.

Aisha earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia and studied Business Management and Finance at the Florida Institute of Technology.

Andrea Horton is the Chief Marketing Officer at the Thurgood Marshall College Fund leading the strategic vision for the organization’s brand and marketing strategy inclusive of TMCF’s brand positioning, communication strategies, public relations, and user experience.

Prior to joining TMCF in 2013, Andrea developed and led market strategies for iconic CPG brands such as Victoria’s Secret, Pink, Donna Karen, Quaker Oats, Hanes, and L’eggs. Andrea has also led innovation and growth strategies for major companies such as Dean Foods and Kimberly-Clark both domestically and abroad.

Andrea graduated with honors from Spelman College with a BA in Economics. She earned an MBA from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School.

Andrea lives in Winston Salem, NC with her son, Caleb.

Experienced chief legal officer with a recent history of working in the non-profit sector and higher education. Extensive background in litigation, business transactions, labor relations and employment law, intellectual property law and regulatory matters. Have also had responsibility for managing both non-profit and institutional government relations activities, including regular interaction with Members of Congress and staff, federal agency administrators, state legislators, and various other officials in federal, state, county and municipal government. Considerable additional experience in alternative dispute resolution, antitrust law, ethics, institutional governance, insurance, higher education policy and land use issues. Skilled legal professional with a juris doctor from The George Washington University Law School.

Dr. Eric D. Hart began his tenure with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund on January 19, 2021 as the Chief Programs Officer. As CPO, he is responsible for the overall direction of Scholarships, Teacher Quality and Retention (TQRP), Talent Acquisition, Leadership Institute, and a host of other signature corporate partnership programs.

Prior to joining TMCF, Dr. Hart served as Deputy Athletics Director at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. As Deputy AD, he was responsible for providing strategic leadership for external relations for the athletic department, including major gift fundraising for the Aggie Athletic Foundation (AAF). During his time, the AAF achieved record fundraising in excess of $1M for two consecutive years. In addition to fundraising, Hart supervised sports programs; introduced a robust procedural roadmap for onboarding new employees of the department; helped launch the 1st Pitch Baseball Banquet and successfully negotiated Football Bowl Subdivisional (FBS) and Football Championship Subdivisional (FCS) contracts for N.C. A&T football.

Dr. Hart earned a bachelor’s degree from Appalachian State University, a master’s degree from the University of Georgia, and his doctorate degree from East Tennessee State University. Hart is a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and is a member of the Rotary Club of Greensboro. He has served higher education in academic and athletic administration for more than twenty years, including successful tenures at the University of Georgia, the University of Tennessee, Appalachian State University, and Delaware State University, in addition to A&T.
