The MedicalAssistant will be responsible for providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the medical office/hospital. MA will support providers and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication.
Responsible for pre-registering and scheduling moderately complex procedures and coordinating multiple resources for patient services. May also perform duties for prior authorization, referrals (incoming/outgoing), good faith estimates, and/or payment collections.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Rooming patients and performing data collections, vitals, EMR input
* Conducts pre-visit planning by reviewing patient charts prior to appointment with recent test results and correspondence
* Assisting physician with patient set-up and preparations
* Compile and summarize information for care providers
* Triaging incoming phone calls
* Preparing and administering medications with physician's authorization
* Completing medical forms and obtaining referrals / authorizations
* Retrieval of lab and x-ray reports
* Calling in prescriptions
* Providing patient education with regards to diagnosis mgt, medication mgt, home treatment, and diets
* Ordering medical and office supplies
* Cleaning and stocking exam rooms
* Cleaning instruments and disposing of biohazard waste according to OSHA standards
* Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
EXPERIENCE:
At least two (2) years of related customer facing experience, preferably in healthcare.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
Certification from nationally recognized agency, required. Accepted agencies and certifications include:
* National Healthcareer Association - MedicalAssistant Certification (CCMA)
* American Medical Technologists - MedicalAssistant (RMA)
* National Center for Competency Testing - National Certified MedicalAssistant (NCMA)
* American Association of MedicalAssistants (AAMA)
* American Heart Association Healthcare provider course with Basic Life Support (BLS)
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

A Brief Overview
The Non-Certified Laboratory Assistant performs a variety of tasks related to the pre-analytical processing of biological specimens for testing performed in the clinical laboratory. This role is responsible for data entry of client demographic information, processing test orders and order review, reconciling specimen/order problems, collection of specimens, and assisting with facilitating send out testing. This position ensures proper patient registration, paper requisition filing, supply management support, answering phones, proper labeling of samples and sample distribution and other duties as assigned. Performs or assists with EKGs, and/or CLIA-waived or moderately complex patient testing duties, as designated, in the clinical laboratory that produce quality results. Demonstrates proper infection control. Assisting Clinical Supervisors/Managers in the day-to-day operation of the laboratory as necessary. Provides services and communicates with other departments and physician office practices in a professional and collaborative and patient centered manner. Demonstrates ability to recognize emergent conditions and reacts appropriately. Provides services in a professional and patient centered manner.
What you will do
Collect specimens for tests ordered using proper technique to prevent clotting or hemolysis, uses the correct containers for testing ordered, and collected proper volumes required for testing.
Collect Blood Cultures using proper aseptic technique to prevent contamination of cultures.
Consistently perform Patient Identification to ensure accuracy using two unique identifiers and patient/family involvement, when possible, as outlined in the TH Patient Identification policy.
Perform pre-analytical, post-analytical, and analysis (waived testing) of lab specimens. Reports results according to policy.
Education Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED Required
High School Diploma and be a student enrolled in an accredited Bachelor of Science program in a science related major Preferred or
High School Diploma and be enrolled in an accredited Clinical Laboratory Science program or Medical Laboratory Technician program Preferred
Experience Qualifications
A minimum of one year health care setting experience Preferred

A Brief Overview
The Non-Certified Laboratory Assistant performs a variety of tasks related to the pre-analytical processing of biological specimens for testing performed in the clinical laboratory. This role is responsible for data entry of client demographic information, processing test orders and order review, reconciling specimen/order problems, collection of specimens, and assisting with facilitating send out testing. This position ensures proper patient registration, paper requisition filing, supply management support, answering phones, proper labeling of samples and sample distribution and other duties as assigned. Performs or assists with EKGs, and/or CLIA-waived or moderately complex patient testing duties, as designated, in the clinical laboratory that produce quality results. Demonstrates proper infection control. Assisting Clinical Supervisors/Managers in the day-to-day operation of the laboratory as necessary. Provides services and communicates with other departments and physician office practices in a professional and collaborative and patient centered manner. What you will do
* Collect specimens for tests ordered using proper technique to prevent clotting or hemolysis, uses the correct containers for testing ordered, and collected proper volumes required for testing.
* Collect Blood Cultures using proper aseptic technique to prevent contamination of cultures.
* Consistently perform Patient Identification to ensure accuracy using two unique identifiers and patient/family involvement, when possible, as outlined in the TH Patient Identification policy.
* Perform pre-analytical, post-analytical, and analysis (waived testing) of lab specimens. Reports results according to policy.
Education Qualifications
* High School Diploma or GED Required
* High School Diploma and be a student enrolled in an accredited Bachelor of Science program in a science related major Preferred or

A Brief Overview
The Nursing Technician (NT) provides age specific direct patient care based on the policies and procedures of the Department of Nursing through participation in the Nursing Process and under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. The NT demonstrates skill in oral and written communication as well as in interpersonal relationships with patients, families and co-workers. The NT utilizes the case management process to best utilize clinical resources and services provide for a timely and fiscally responsible discharge.
What you will do
Observes and reports symptoms and conditions of patients to the nurse clearly and accurately within appropriate time frame.
Demonstrates good communication skills with patients, family members and co-workers.
Assists with the admission of new patients and orienting them and family to the environment.
Utilizes work sheet.
Provides accurate report at shift change.
Practices cost containment and appropriate resource utilization in the delivery of patient care.
Assists in facilitating timely admission and discharge of patients.
Staff the discharge lounge and provide patient care as directed.
Assists in maintaining accurate and current records and prepares reports and records for physicians/nurses as requested.
Education Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent and must be actively enrolled in RN school pursuing a degree in Nursing documented by transcript.
Experience Qualifications
RN Student with NT II (documentation of completion of Basic Nursing Skills/Fundamentals) plus Med-Surg rotation. Candidates must receive a minimum “meets standard” rating on the most recent annual or 90-day evaluation, must have received no written disciplinary corrective actions or no more than two verbal counseling or informal counseling sessions within the last 12 months.

Licenses and Certifications

A Brief Overview
The Certified Nursing Assistant / Clinical Secretary at Tidelands Health plays a dual role, performing both clerical duties and providing direct patient care services. This position is essential in ensuring smooth operations on the nursing unit by managing communications, assisting patients, and supporting the healthcare team under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
What you will do
Perform clerical duties on a nursing unit including answering the telephone and relaying messages.
Act as a receptionist, receiving and directing visitors and ambulatory patients.
Provide direct patient care services as assigned by the Clinical Director.
Assist with patient needs and support the healthcare team.
Education Qualifications
High School Diploma with the successful completion of Medical Terminology course and a passing score on the examination. May substitute 2 years previous specific work experience with medical terminology for the Medical Terminology course certification. (Example: HIM Tech, Paralegal, Medical Biller, Medical Secretary, Patient Access Representative) Required or
High School Diploma with the completion of approved course of study for Nursing Assistant training or successful completion of fundamentals semester of Nursing school Required
Experience Qualifications
One year Clerical experience or Nursing Assistant experience Preferred
Skills and Abilities
Works with patients, families, physicians, and other health care providers.
Basic computer and typing skills.
Ability to communicate effectively and clearly
