Tiffin University company history timeline

1888

Tiffin University was established in 1888 and now offers nationally accredited graduate and undergraduate degrees in Business Administration, top-notch bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Criminal Justice and Social Sciences, and distinctive degrees in the Arts and Sciences.

1900

Students will also trace the remarkable rise of industrialization and unionism, the “winning of the West,” the challenges of urbanization, unprecedented immigration around 1900 and the country’s growing commitment in Asia following the Spanish-American War.

1917

After breaking with Heidelberg College in 1917, the institution relocated to downtown Tiffin.

1918

Acquisition of Tiffin Business CollegeClosure led to creation of Tiffin Business University 1918

1928

Tiffin is the home of the historic Ritz Theatre, built in 1928 as a vaudeville house with an Italian Renaissance design.

1939

1939: becomes Tiffin University with nonprofit status

1945

Finally, an investigation of America’s role in two world wars helps students understand how the United States emerged as a world leader in 1945.

2008

A new Mercy Hospital of Tiffin was built and opened in July 2008.

2010

Nationally accredited (TEAC, 2010)Consistent rating of "Effective," Ohio's highest ranking for teacher preparation programsField experiences range from one day observations in the first Education courses to 15-weeks during student teaching
