Many of the states that Les Schwab Tires operated in passed their own laws, and in 1991, an Idaho law went into effect that prohibited the disposal of tires in landfills.
1992: Second-generation owner Chuck Telle retires, leaving the family business to his two sons, Mark and Scott.
In 1995 Walt joined the growing executive team, progressing through multiple roles as the company expanded.
However, in 1996, Les Schwab Tires headquarters had more than four million tires stacked a few miles west of it, and still no economical and environmentally sound solution regarding the old tires was in sight.
When the Asian currency markets fell in 1998 and the Asian automobile market took a dive, Les Schwab Tires wasted no time taking advantage of the strong dollar-value in Korea.
2000: Modern Tire Dealers magazine recognizes Les Schwab as Tire Dealer of the Year.
After years of managing retread plants, Dan progressed to Quality Control Technician in 2000 where he installed and audited retread plants.
2003: Scott Telle’s son, Aaron, joins the business full-time.
2006: Second-generation owner Chuck Telle passes away at the age of 79, after a 9-month illness.
Although Les passed away in 2007, his vision remains at the core of the company’s culture: give people more for their money … reward employees for their expertise and hard work … earn people’s trust and everyone benefits.
In 2007, Dan advanced to Regional Commercial Account Manager, supporting the independent dealer’s retread business by calling directly on fleets and promoting retreading.
2007: Aaron Telle takes over day-to-day operations.
2008: Third-generation owner Mark Telle retires, remaining part owner with his brother, Scott, but was no longer involved in the day-to-day operations.
2009: Scott Telle became ill and his 14-year battle with a rare blood disease came to an end.
Howie played an integral role in opening our Lansdale location and in 2010 he was promoted to a Strategic Account Manager focusing his efforts on larger fleets.
2010: Aaron Telle officially takes over as the fourth-generation owner of Telle Tire & Auto Centers.
2011: Third-generation owner Scott Telle joins his father, Chuck Telle, in the Missouri Tire Dealers Hall of Fame.
STTC appointed Howie Director of Strategic Accounts & Mechanical Fleet Sales in 2012 where he continues to expand the STTC fleet customer base and the STTC mechanical division.
In 2013, Scott began working full time in Baltimore as an inside sales consultant.
The training and support from Tuffy allowed us to take a failing location that had been closed and turn it around to become a top-ten store nationally (2015). Tuffy provided training at their facilities, at other store locations, and at my store.
2015: Aaron begins to lead what will be many years of extensive growth through acquisition, expanding Telle Tire & Auto Service into Alton, IL and into Fenton, MO.
In 2016 he moved to Massachusetts to manage our Millbury MRT retread facility.
2016: Telle Tire & Auto Service expands into South County.
In June of 2017 STTC appointed Howie as the Vice President of Sales in addition to his Strategic Account and Mechanical Sales duties.
2017: Continued growth led to re-branding to capture the attention of a broader market and updates the company name for the first time in company history, from Telle Tire & Auto Service to Telle Tire & Auto Centers, capturing multi-store locations understanding along with an updated logo.
2018: In a year of prolific growth, Telle Tire & Auto Centers adds locations in Bridgeton, the Central West End, Jefferson City, and Eureka.
Telle Tire was also identified as a 2019 Tire Business’ Top 6 National Finalist for Best Places to Work.
By 2020, the global automotive aftermarket is expected to reach a valuation of $722.8 billion dollars.
2020: Telle Tire & Auto Centers acquired KC Complete Auto Service, which includes five locations.
2021: Telle Tire & Auto Centers acquired JBC Tire Complete Auto Care, including two store locations and expansion into the Springfield market.
