Automotive Tire Installer

Shift: 2nd Shift

Basic purpose of position:

+ Operating a car lift

+ Balancing tires

+ Tire alignments

+ Mounting tires to rim

Starting pay

+ 2nd Shift - $17.00 per hour to start

Responsibilities:

+ Identifies appropriate tire size and ply; inflates tires to proper air pressure based on product information

+ Identifies counterweights required to balance wheels with the use of balancing machines attaches counterweights onto rims

+ Perform damage free installation of tires

+ Post installation inspection

Education Requirements:

+ High School education or ability.

Experience Requirements:

+ Mechanical experience with minor automobile repair and accessory install

Skills, Licenses, Certification, and/or Special Training:

+ Must maintain a valid state driver's license if required to operate company equipment;

+ Meet and maintain all requirements contained in the Conditions of Employment policy.

Physical, Mental & Sensory Requirements:

+ Ability to constantly work in an indoor/outdoor environment, exposed to all weather elements, including extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust and noisy conditions;

+ Constantly required to use bending, kneeling, twisting and walking motions on uneven surfaces throughout entire work shift;

+ Constantly perform prolonged standing and/or walking at a rapid in an 8 hour shift;

+ Possess physical strength and agility to constantly lift automotive tires and rims throughout shift;

+ Ability to rarely lift and carry up to 75 lbs.

+ Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 30 lbs.

+ Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 45 lbs.

+ Ability to push and pull at a force of up to 100 lbs.

+ Must be able to hear and communicate, work or safety instructions spoken in a normal voice;

+ Ability to read Vehicle Identification Numbers and other shipping documents;

+ Must have visual acuity and normal depth perception in both eyes to inspect and drive motor vehicles in limited lighting to include night/dusk and inside plant operation

+ Must be able to work independently

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

+ Responsible for the proper installation of tires, including mounting, dismounting, rotating, and balancing tires.

+ Responsible for properly disposing of tires and ensuring propane tanks are filled per club policy.

+ Maintains a clean and professional tire bay and waiting area. Merchandises tire displays and automotive products.

+ Ensures that knowledgeable service is provided to members at the tire desk. Coordinates with Home Office regarding member tire needs as needed.

+ Maintains an accurate and complete supply inventory. Understands and appropriately utilizes available special-order tire programs.

+ Complies with safety and cleanliness standards and properly utilizes tire bay equipment.

+ Assists members in the selection and purchase of tires including verifying the sizes for vehicles.

+ Fills propane tanks as needed if certified per DOT requirements.

+ Provides knowledgeable service to members at the tire desk.

+ Understands and appropriately utilizes available special order tire programs.

+ Ensures that all tire bay scheduling data and documentation is completed for sales and service orders.

+ Maintains all club policies and procedures.

+ Performs other duties as assigned, including working in other departments as needed.

+ Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of this job.

Qualifications

+ Must be at least 18 years of age.

+ Valid driver's license and ability to drive automatic and manual transmission vehicles required.

+ Strong interpersonal skills required.

+ Basic computer skills or a willingness to learn basic computer skills required.

+ Prior tire installation experience preferred.

+ Must pass Michelin training levels one through four within three months of hire.

+ Ability to lift over 30 pounds with assistance.

Environmental Job Conditions

+ Exposure to both indoor and outdoor temperatures and weather conditions.

+ Most of the time is spent standing and moving about continuously on hard surfaces. Frequent need to bend, climb, crawl, kneel, push, pull, reach, move side to side, stoop, and climb ladders/step stools.
