Summary of Position

Clearly communicate with service advisor if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
Connect with Parts Department to obtain needed parts and reports status of parts to service advisor.
Use approved repair techniques and materials to service each vehicle to pre-concern condition.
Ensure appearance of customers' vehicles is maintained or improved - notify service advisor of any change in the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
Report machinery defects or malfunctions and maintain all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Operate all tools and equipment safely.
Complete manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events as requested. Keep up to date on technical bulletins.
Qualifications
Able to perform day-to-day service activities in a technician environment.
Have at least 2 years' experience working as GM Technician and provide his or her own tools. Must be able to furnish GM Training records.
Previous experience as a general electrical, transmission, and/or diesel technician is preferred.
Be able to lift up to fifty (50) lbs without assistance and stand, sit, bend, and twist for extended periods of time on concrete.
Have strong attention to detail and be organized.
A self-motivated team player that is able to communicate effectively with team members and works well with other technicians and service advisors.

II. Minimum Job Qualifications
18 years of age.
High school graduate or GED
Minimum tool requirements (see below).
Minimum of 1-2 years of direct mechanic experience on heavy trucks or equipment - or a combination of experience PLUS vocational training, trade or technical school degree/certification of completion.

Minimum of 4 years of direct mechanic experience on heavy trucks or equipment
Ability to perform vehicle lubrication systems and D.O.T. safety inspections.

Responsibilities:
Team up with managers and other mechanics to diagnose and service cars coming in for auto repairs
Identify and address mechanical problems and malfunction codes found in the vehicle's electrical system, mechanical systems, and electronic systems
Continue learning and growing technical skills and opportunities
Conduct test drives, inspections, and diagnostic tests to determine automotive malfunctions
Maintain accurate customer records for vehicles' repairs, parts, maintenance histories, and more
Continue learning and growing technical skills and opportunities
Complete preventive maintenance work on vehicles, including oil changes, air conditioning service, filling fluids, and replacing brake pads, spark plugs, and batteries
Identify and address mechanical problems and malfunction codes found in the vehicle's electrical system, mechanical systems, and electronic systems
Conduct test drives, inspections, and diagnostic tests to determine automotive malfunctions
Work with team members to determine vehicle problems and solutions
Qualifications:
Experience and manual dexterity using hand tools and other equipment is needed
High school diploma or GED equivalent necessary
Required state-issued driver's license
Associate's degree from a vocational program, technical school, or community college is preferred - ASE certification is a big bonus
Must be an effective communicator who maintains a solid work ethic
